I owned some original art back in the 70's- I had a Kurt Schaffenberger page from a 1963 LOIS LANE, A Murphy Anderson page from a 1965 issue of SHOWCASE, a Gil Kane page from a 1974 SAVAGE SWORD OF CONAN and A Curt Swan SUPERMAN daily newspaper strip from 1958.
Dark Horse Comic reprinted Manning's MAGNUS, ROBOT FIGHTER not long ago, and dabbled in his TARZAN books, but didn't do a major reprinting project. They did reprint all of Joe Kubert's TARZAN for DC, and there's a rumor floatin' about that they'll be doing the same for Marvel's thirty or so issues of JOHN CARTER, WARLORD OF MARS.
I still have the JOHN CARTER comics...well, well worth getting.

DC's Tarzan books, in addition to having those awesome Joe Kubert drawn stories, were also launching pads for artists like Berni Wrightson, Mike Kaluta, Alan Weiss and many others, and also had artwork from the Redondo brothers.
You guys on this thread and the Marvel one are making me reeeallllly bad I sold my American comic book collection back in 1992 I loved the artwork of these guys.

For art i always loved Curt Swan's Aquaman. Mark Bright's Hal Jordan. Anything by Joe Kubert who was immense, particularly Sgt. Rock. Jim Aparo and Norm Breyfogle on Batman. Dan Jurgens on Superman. Adam Hughes did amazing Justice League stuff and Bart Sears on Justice League Europe. My favourite writer was the hilarious Keith Giffen who also had a brilliant run on Legion of Super Heroes.
Oh, though Sergio Aragone's Groo is probably my favourite - not DC though.
i think the first comic i remember was a tarzan one where the baddie is crushed to death at the end by a giant snail against the inside of a cave or some rocks - weird. Also a Conan comic where his mate gets an arm chopped off and it gets possessed and he starts doing bad things, i think it might be an orangutan arm.
"The Brave and the Bold" was my favorite comic book for quite a few years, due in no small measure to Jim Aparo, and the occasional issue draw by the wonderful Jose Luis Garcia Lopez.
I've always liked the "Regular-hero-and-guest-star" format of the book. Also really liked the "DC Comics Presents" title (Superman and guest), "Marvel Team-Up" (Spider-Man and guest) and "Marvel Two-in-One" (The Thing and guest).
I loved the artwork of these guys.
