Pretty sure I started a thread like this before but I can't find it.
Three years ago my previous neighbor sold her house and some company purchased it and rented it out.
The new neighbors are the neighbors from hell. The first two years in particular they always had large gatherings and outside parties literately three times a week. Even during the height of Covid.
They've made their back porch into their "living room" going so far as installing a TV outside. They are always on the back porch, talk very loud. Have the television or music at high volumes. Keep in mind it can get very hot in the summer and they still rather sit outside. The lady has a loud high pitch voice and sounds like the Wicked Witch of the West. They put their garbage cans and lawn debris out on my side of the property line.
This was followed by finding more and more trash in MY yard. Beer bottles and beer cans. Bottle tops, plastic cups, plastic shopping bags, styrofoam plates, among other garbage.
Keep in mind I have a privacy fence! You have to TOSS this stuff over the fence.
Now, its getting ridiculous! I found a Tupperware container with half eaten food in it just over the fence in the bushes, some weird gadget, I don't know if its a lighter or some kinda drug paraphernalia.
AND a brand new debit card that doesn't expire until 2024! I did an internet search for the name on the card and found one person with that name living in my country - who has an arrest record from 2015! (crime unspecified)
What will I find next in my yard, dead cats?

Many years ago, I moved to South Carolina for my first full-time newspaper job. Shortly after I moved in to my apartment, a guy moved into the apartment above mine. I was walking out when he was moving in. He said, "It sure would be helpful if that door was open", so I opened the door for him. He walked through with thanking me. That was the shape of things to come.
He, and sometimes with his girlfriend, would crank up his stereo to full volume around 2 am or 3 am so loud my ceiling would vibrate and the air conditioning outlets would rattle. Then they would come down the stairs and leave. I have no idea why he constantly cranked up his stereo---and then he would always leave with the stereo blasting away.
I complained to the complex manager about the noise, and she told me my neighbor was a tv/stereo salesman and had offered to sell the complex a tv at discount, and she did not want to jeopardize that, so she would do nothing about the constant noise.
Months later, I had just returned from a newspaper convention in San Diego (where TOP GUN had just premiered), and was unpacking when the stereo cranked up again. The tenant across the hall from the salesman angrily knocked on his door. He said he was a college student studying for exams and he was fed up with the constant noise. He was yelling obscenities at the salesman. The salesman yelled back and called the college student rude and how dare he knock on his door, etc.
Later, I was paying the rent when the complex manager told me she put an eviction notice on the salesman's door because the college student had moved out because of the stereo noise. She then found out the salesman
not only had not moved out, but he had let someone else use the apartment, so she told him to stop this and vacate the apartment. She came back later and found he had moved out and had a left a cat behind that was so lonely and miserable when she entered the apartment, it followed her around meowing. I know this was true because many times in the middle of the night, I had heard the cat crying, and it sounded like the cat was running full speed across the room and hurling itself on the opposite wall like it was going nuts.
When he was moving out, I heard him outside say something like, "Goddam college kids".

Where I live now the neighbors are pretty good, but my last place this one family would egg our house. I'm sorry to hear about your bad neighbors guys.
Thanks Henry, but it was only five weeks out of 16 years. It's been a smooth ride here.

Wow, Solium, my neighbors are very much like yours! They live right across the road from us, about 50 yards away. First off, let me say that they have never caused us any trouble personally. In fact, last Summer when lightning struck a tree in our front yard, some of them came over to see about us. When some of their family members have passed away, I’ve taken food to them, etc.
But! Otherwise, things are quite bad. On their land they have a house, a small camper, and a mobile home, all in terrible shape, with, depending on who’s in/out of jail, about 15 people. Most of them hang out on the front porch of the house. There’s one fellow who is morbidly obese and lives in his car in their front yard. He has Parkinson’s and wanders their yard and driveway barefoot, picking up stuff off the ground.
They play a radio very loudly all day and into the night, alternating between country, classic rock and rap/hip hop. Several of them are “frequent flyers” with our local Sheriff’s dept.
It all started when the “patriarch” of the family allowed all of them to move in several years ago. Since he passed, things have gone downhill. There’s nearly a constant stream of strangers going in and out of the mobile home and since the prevailing winds flow from their direction to ours, the smell of pot and other “chemicals” wafts over. They burn their trash in a 55-gallon drum every day and stink things up with that as well. At least their trash isn’t blowing over into our yard as much as it once did.
The worst of the lot is the lady who “owns” the mobile home. She shows all the classic symptoms of meth addiction and you can tell when she’s high. She cranks up the radio, dances around the yard singing (badly off-key). She looks like she weighs about 60 lbs and has the classic skin sores and rotting teeth of a meth addict. She frequently gets into cussfights with some of the other residents and often the police have to come, yet nothing changes. Over the past year the police have been over there nearly twenty times - I counted!
They are a lively bunch!

We had some neighbours ( until about 5/6.years ago), at our rear( where my bed room is. They were t worst we've had. The police came frequently. I think the were going to put an incident tent up in their back yard, for them.to sit in. On one occasion they'd had a.bouncy castle for a birthday, nothing wrong with that. How ever when the eldest comes home from the pub at 3am and switched the bugger on, Yee harring everywhere. Another time he pinched someone's fireworks and set them off out side the front of his house. The youngest lad wasn't supposed to be here. So we watched as the police searched the house. Finally he was found in the loft. They put a multi gym on the front garden and used it til all hours, while supping beer. The eldest got arrested for pushing someone off a push bike, he turned out to be an off duty policeman! They were bastards.

Geez, Jack, that sounds like it's taken directly out of one of those white trash/hillbilly movies. I've always found that a fascinating aspect of US culture.
You're right, Thor - sadly. I don't like to name-call, and everyone has some good in them - but neighbors like these are the reason for the term "trailer trash" - a common term used here in the South.
I've been in the house, as I said on sympathy visits and in places, the floor is almost rotted thru.
None of these folks work, not a one of them, so from where do they get their money?
I didn't mention that some of them are cranking out babies like it's up to them to repopulate the world.
The lady that inherited the property is a sad figure, a functional Down's Syndrome victim in her 60s. What happens when she passes on?
We have ~40 acres, mostly wooded, and we've talked many times about building a new house in the middle of our woods and demolishing our old one, just to give us some space.
Honestly, though, I've learned to somewhat tune out most all of the noise.

When I was a graduate student I had an upstairs neighbor who worked for the college food service, so she naturally hated all college kids. Her idea of a fun time was to go out drinking, and then get in at 2 AM and blast "Puff the Magic Dragon" on repeat. We would bang the ceiling with a broomstick, but she was too stoned to hear. Once we called the police, and when the cop showed up he greeted her by first name (they were old friends).
Moral of the story: NEVER have an upstairs neighbor.

@ dragon & jackfu - Yeesh, those are some horrible neighbors. Sadly I guess this is something all to common. It's very frustrating when you work really hard, and when you go home you just want some peace and quite.
Regarding the debit card I found I read the best thing to do is shred it and don't tell anyone else about it. Because if you try to find the owner of the card, call the card company or police I could be accused of stealing the card or making unauthorized purchases off of it! So much for being a good samaritan.
Yeah, Solium, as well, non-helpful, I guess, as it sounds, sometimes no good deed goes unpunished. Un-neighborly, I don't know, but I believe I'd destroy the card, too.
And, if anyone asks, you never told us a thing about anything!
