Here's my cels from Don Bluth productions. I have cels from some other animation properties as well. Sorry, I didn't do a very good job photographing them. What looks like folds in the cels are flash glares. The cels are in very good condition. These are all production cels and not reproductions. Meaning they were filmed and used in the animation process. Perhaps try reloading this webpage. If you see the url of the images try copying and pasting that into a new tab/window. Yes, it's an expensive hobby, one I can't continue anymore. The three framed NIMH cels including framing, mats and shipping cost me $900 dollars. My biggest holy grail I never got was a cel of Princess Daphne from Dragon's Lair. Someone out bid me and it went for over a $1000 dollars! I was determined to win the bid, but also kinda glad I lost the bid! Most of my animation cels are stored away. Framing them is quite expensive. I also would like to create custom backgrounds for the cels that didn't come with backgrounds. I don't "collect" them, but I do have two; both from Star Wars: Ewoks, the television series. I have no idea what characters they are, since I never even saw the show in the first place... That's cool, I really like the animation style in the 80's. Loved all the Disney afternoon cartoons back then too. Duck Tales, Chip and Dale, the bouncing bears, I can't remember the name of that series. Was a huge fan of 80's anime too. I thought it was just a silly thing to do. After all what mattered was the final product. Especially in animation, its not a single cel that makes the cartoon but the combination of millions of cels running in order at 24 frames a second. But somewhere along the way I realized an artist personally drew that image with their own hands. And until Beauty and the Beast, it was hand colored. Walt Disney were practically giving away production cels at the theme parks! You could grab a classic animation cel for less than a $100 dollars. And I mean from the big classics like Snow White, Bambi, Fantasia, etc. By the time I got into collecting animation cels, Disney artificially inflated the prices of their production cels starting with The Little Mermaid which I think were somewhere in the $1000-$3000 dollar range!    Posted:   Feb 13, 2019 - 8:58 AM     By:   Grecchus   (Member) It is quite staggering how animated features, particularly those from Disney, were hand crafted at a time when digital tools had not even been conceived of. Everything was electro mechanical equipment designed specifically to photograph hand drawn subject matter. The zenith of this technology was probably reached with Doug Trumbull's Slit-Scan process which took flat abstract art and turned it into a 3-dimensional effect on a 2-dimensional screen.    Posted:   Feb 13, 2019 - 4:04 PM     By:   Adventures of Jarre Jarre   (Member) That Sharptooth attack one seems strange. I'd think they would animate the T-Rex, Bronto, and rock shards on seperate cels. But then, the Mousekewitz one probably wouldn't have been as effective if treated that way.
