I certainly hope Varese considers manufacturing more of City Hall. I had to spend $50 to get my own copy from overseas, but I still want other people to be able to get it and I know so many people missed out.
I love all of your fiery guesses, Ryan! With Man on Fire are you talking the John Scott one, the Harry Gregson-Williams one, or both?
Here's a guess that's perhaps a little less obvious. We know Varese controls it in perpetuity...
We don't have confirmation that Varese controls this one in perpetuity (both are Disney-owned though which might still rule them out at the present time):
Of course the Goldsmith expansion I want most that fits the clue is UNDER FIRE... but Varese never released that one, so extremely unlikely for this.
It's been years since Varese last expanded one of their Basil Poledouris releases... personally, this fiery one would fire me right up!
All I want right now are deluxe editions of The Bourne Supremacy and The Day After Tomorrow as they're both celebrating their 20th anniversaries this year
Besides Hot Shots Part Deux, what other old Varese-released soundtrack albums feature fire on the cover, if not the title?
Couple of Debneys I'd love to have expanded seem to fit the bill:
And a couple of Goldenthals might fit too...
What else haven't I thought of yet?
Yavar
Demolition Man would be it in an alternate universe where it was Produced By Paramount Pictures.
And Hot Shots Part Dues could be a contender if it wasn't a Fox/Disney property
As for Sudden Death and Scorpion King, I can see them as more likely given how cool Universal is working with the labels.
If Varese saw them as viable targets.
I'm curious to know how the current admin thinks nk. Their choices have been interestingly current. They love stuff from the recent 25 years. Beltrami and John Powell in particular.
Is there a film called Ring of Fire. Coz their clues are usually all my arse.
Yep, it's a somewhat forgotten McGonahey (sic) post apocalyptic dragon flick from 2000-ish, with an admittedly good Ed Shearmur score.
Good film, good score, longshot.
Any one else feel dread instead of excitement at a Varese Club announcement now? I'll give them a point for a day before clue announcement, the same week. Track record ain't so good lately.
If anyone could expand a Warner Goldenthal title, it would be Varese because of their perpetuity rights deals from the 90s. Since 2020 they are the only label that has released WB expansions, and they’ve done quite a few of them to be honest! I don’t think WB works with them to find elements or anything at this point, but if they can find an alternate source for the complete score, I think they basically already *have* the rights to release an expansion. Could be wrong about that but it’s the impression I have.
