Hm. Too bad McCreary isn't returning for the newest Monsterverse spectacle. Not sure what to expect from Tom Holkenborg.

Beyond disappointed Bear didn’t return. You couldn’t ask for a better monster score then what he gave. Ridiculous.

I predict ZERO drums in this score, especially taiko/daiko... should be exciting!
And I actually LIKE JxL-Borg.....but couldn't help posting a diss anyway....

Holkenborg is more likely to write a score that is on par with the film. wink

Meh, haven't heard a good monster score since Jurassic Park.

I was disappointed with McCreary score, but anyway he'd be the far better choice than Holkenborg and no, all his new orchestral scores is haven't changed my opinion about him. My expectations about music in this movie is very low for this moment.

I hadn't realised The Junk was classically trained. Go figure.
I've really enjoyed his last few scores.
Bring It On (I say).

Too bad Lorne was probably busy and unavailable.

Absolutely agreed. His WHITE LINES from this year is great - one of my favs of the year (harkening back to his EDM roots). He's one of my favourite film composers at the moment, and looking forward to any new assignment. I don't care what anyone else says.

I joked but Alita: Battle Angel and Sonic the Hedgehog are eye openers for me. Both have stand out moments and Sonic is a great score in its totality. Much better choice than the last two Zilla composers for which I can't remember a single piece of music.

Didn't McCreary compose a new theme for Rodan in King of the Monsters? That was excellent. So I certainly remember that and many other pieces in that film. So I too am saddened that he won't be used for the new one.

Actually, the music in the Monsterverse was a hightlight after another, maybe i'm with the few people who loves Desplat, Jackman and McCreary's works in this movies.

But, aside from Film Music Reporter, neither Tom or other websites, said something about it.

First Batman V Superman and now Godzilla vs. Kong. Just don't understand the appeal.

I’m okay with Mr Holkenberg getting it. I’ve enjoyed a lot of his scores and if he’s got the gig it could be a lot worse. Just so disappointed that Bear didn’t get the assignment. His King Of The Monsters score never fails to put a big smile on the face of this long term Godzilla fan.

Same. His Godzilla is in my regular rotation and I even got the vinyl album. It's such an incredibly good score.

I’m a huge Ifukube fan and have had trouble with every American-made Version of Godzilla and their respective scores. Williams’ War of the Worlds was probably the closest thing a North American composer has gotten to Ifukube without treading into pastiche.

My feeling is, wait until the score comes out and judge it then. I liked JXL’s Deadpool quite a lot. Mad Max was serviceable and I haven’t heard Terminator Dark Fate so I can’t comment on that.

Bear’s score was ok but buried in the mix. I do like Goodbye Old Friend however. Very emotive writing.

OK. Since the release date of the movie has been postponed to May 2021, there is still plenty of time to replace Holkenborg...
