Interesting. I have the old LP, which had two cuts of score. I remember them being synth tracks and figured, like the Karate Kid 2 LP, they were skimping on paying the orchestra reuse fees?
I picked up this LP back in 1985 after seeing the movie - I remember playing those two Cues quite a bit, so I am looking forward to seeing what exactly will be on the new CD:-)
It's a pity that Bill Conti hasn't scored a film in four years; nevertheless, it's great that labels are taking advantage of his output by putting out C.D.s of expanded or unreleased scores.
Conti hasn't scored a film since 2011 and it appears, based on IMDb, that that film never made it to theaters. And Neither did the next prior one from 2010. So, there hasn't been a film released with an original score by him in ten years.

Hahaha this really is hilariously written around the Faltermeyer music.
Holy Moses, he wasn't even trying to hide it. Might make for a neat guilty pleasure listen (assuming that this is the score's basis; there might be some orchestral stuff I'm missing).

More Conti is always a great thing. If you grew up watching TBS or TNT in the '90s, then you probably remember this movie as it seemingly aired several times a week. I'm not sure if I ever saw the entire thing, but while I definitely remember some of the music being a parody of "Beverly Hills Cop," I also seem to recall an orchestral love theme (a "parody" love theme composed/arranged as if it were for a straight romance). Unless I'm mixing this up with another comedy that had a big, sincere, old fashioned love theme (of which there were quite a few... my favorite is probably The Big Kiss cue from "Big Top Pee-Wee"). I guess I'll find out when the clips are posted.

There really isn't a love theme in this score. It's mainly a cold war suspense and action score. Well there is a track called Love in the D.D.R. which is somewhat romantic, but quite restrained.
