I saw the film at the London Film Festival a few weeks ago where it was one of the first films to sell out and extra showings were arranged. Amazing movie, very bleak and atmospheric. Score likewise. I missed The Witch but have ordered the dvd.

The film sounds like it's gonna be another 'Witch-like' feel and atmosphere. I didn't really enjoy The Witch, while I watched it at the cinema, but found myself thinking about it more and more, with the passing of time. I did like the feeling and authenticity of it, though. I think this Lighthouse film is gonna be similar. Kinda looking forward to it.

Saw the trailer for it and I'm interested. Korven is a great composer. I prefer these kind of films and scores to mainstream ones largely.

Unfortunately, I didn't care for this film. I mean, the cinematography is great (and rightfully nominated for an Oscar), but I have issues with Willem Dafoe's "scene chewery" in this case. He's a superb actor, and sometimes his unhinged style works well (WILD AT HEART, SHADOW OF THE VAMPIRE etc.), but in this case, I felt it didn't. The music was fascinating and minimal, from what I can remember. Not something I'm likely to play on album (as with THE VVITCH), but good in-context.

Indeed, nowhere to find at the moment...

I watched the film and found it uncomfortable but that was the intention. The madness of isolationis perfectly depicted in the performances and Korven’s Penderecki inspired score. https://youtu.be/vImARtEhTw8

Indeed, nowhere to find at the moment... Is this a new thing with Milan, to make the CD hard to find sooner than expected (to help sales of the vinyl?) I'd noticed the same thing with The Beach Bum, which I think I've finally tracked down a CD of. I noticed last week that the Lighthouse CD seemed to be suddenly scarce, though my fortunately my local store still had just one left. (fortunately for me, anyway)
