Indeed.
*And* it reunites Williams with JJ Abrams, who seems to understand the material very well, respects the fan base and has enough confidence to trust his composer.
Couldn't looking more forward to this score. And especially, considering it's Star Wars, the coda. The last moments of a Star Wars saga-film belong with the best moments in cinema ever made.
A defining moment in movie and score history, something to celebrate!

Going out on a limb here, but I think THE FORCE AWAKENS proved that Abrams is capable of getting new material out of late-career Williams that's more often than not highly memorable and engaging. We all reference Rey's Theme and The Jedi Steps (Ahch-To) stuff, but there's a lot more meat than those themes/moments alone. I find the last few reels to be so brilliant, propulsive and satisfying that I often listen to the that material on the album, but there are other standout sequences where Williams is hardly slumming it.
I look forward with hope to what TROS bring us musically.
The intro to the scherzo is one of my favorite things from the album. I really hope he recovers from the uninspired debacle of The Last Jedi.

After several months without a listen, I gave Last Jedi a spin today. Take out the Canto Bight sequences and it's a phenomenal score. Rich, complex, grand. A solid addition to the Star Wars musical universe.
It did a lot of heavy lifting in that movie, and I've never gotten over the feeling that Rian's relationship with John wasn't as chummy or in synch as it seems to be with JJ (aka "JJ baby...").

The Last Jedi was the first time i walked out of a Star Wars film completely uninspired by a John Williams SW score.It didnt help that the film was so poor,it just seemed that Williams was just on autopilot.
Even though i thought The Force Awakens was a train wreck of a film,at the very least Williams provided a memorable score.I guess being away from the franchise for so many years inspired him.
Even if Rise Of Skywalker ends up being more SJW pandering nonsense,i hope he delivers with this one as its most likely his finale with the franchise ( Even though we all know ROTS was the real finale ).
