Music Composed and Conducted by John Williams
Violin Solos by Itzhak Perlman
Limited Edition of 4000 Units
RETAIL PRICE: $29.98

In commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the landmark film, SCHINDLER’S LIST, La-La Land Records, Universal Music Special Markets, Universal Studios, Amblin Entertainment and Geffen proudly present SCHINDLER’S LIST – 25th ANNIVERSARY SOUNDTRACK, a 2-CD remastered re-issue of legendary composer John Williams’ (JAWS, CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND, JURASSIC PARK) Oscar-Winning original motion picture score to the 1994 Best Picture, SCHINDLER’S LIST, starring Liam Neeson, Ben Kingsley, Ralph Fiennes, Caroline Goodall, and Jonathan Sagall, and directed by Steven Spielberg.

Winner of seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Original Score, this incredible true story follows the enigmatic Oskar Schindler (Liam Neeson), who saved the lives of more than 1,100 Jews during the Holocaust. It is the triumph of one man who made a difference and the drama of those who survived one of the darkest chapters in human history because of what he did. Williams’ musical masterwork is an indelible part of this powerful story, whose lessons of courage and faith continue to inspire generations.

Disc One of this special 2-CD presentation showcases the original soundtrack assembly, sourced from the original 1993 release’s 24-karat gold Ultimate Masterdisc digital master, while Disc Two contains previously unreleased tracks, sourced from engineer Shawn Murphy’s stereo digital masters, including two major cues that are now presented in the versions heard in the picture: “Schindler’s Workforce” and “I Could Have Done More,” both of which underwent revisions after the 1993 album had been prepared.

This 25th Anniversary Edition, produced, edited and mastered by Mike Matessino, is approved by composer John Williams and director Steven Spielberg. It is limited to 4000 units and features classic art design by Jim Titus and exclusive, in-depth liner notes by Matessino.

Schindler’s List returns to cinemas nationwide beginning December 7.

Certainly not replacing the 3 disc unofficial set out there...

I'm grateful we're getting this, and I can understand that Mr. Williams doesn't want to alter the iconic album, and prefers to add only a few additional pieces.

However I had been waiting to see the tracklisting, and I just now bought the soundtracks to "Billy Bathgate" and "Pour Sacha" to get the film versions of "OYF'N Pripetshok" and "Yeroushalaim Chel Zahav", because they're radically different from the album versions.

$30 for just 28 minutes of new music on its own disc? Hmm, that's kind of a surprise. And the tangos are missing too. The Williams completist in me will probably make me get this at some point, but with this little to offer and Harry Potter waiting in the wings, this release will have to go on the back burner for me, I'm afraid. Perhaps I'll pick it up when Superman gets reissued.

This is a stunning release, approved by the Master himself. You don't need those Tangos!

28 additional minutes is a blessing. And it comes with gorgeous alternate cover art as well.

That's my impression as well. Quite expensive for probably not even 28 minutes, as I imagine the film versions aren't much different.

Yeah this is an odd one....though "$30 for 28 minutes" is hardly abnormal in expanded releases - taking away any direct repetition, a lot of expansions have the same amount, if not less actually new. I'd actually MUCH more gladly take this than having the whole score and the original OST with minimal differences (if ANY...see a certain recent Intrada release).

So yeah, will certainly get this for that reason alone.

So, is it remastered?

I will grant you that the cover looks fabulous.

I have the '93 CD (MCAD-10969) and it runs around 64:30 minutes. Now the album version on CD 1 is listed around 3 minutes longer. "Schindler's Workforce", "Oyf'n Pripetshok And Nacht Aktion" and "Theme Of Schindler's List (Reprise)" are listed longer than on the old album. Was there another longer version of this score in 1993?

There were misprints on track times on some releases of the artwork. I think the Ultradisc that this release is mastered from is the one with the correct times, but the original 1993 CD mislabeled the times.

Schindler’s workforce stil only run 9:40 - so the track times are wrong

Is this movie any good? I took a date to it back when it came out, but we made out during the whole thing.
