The other day I posted "Rocketeer to the Rescue/End Title" on Facebook and added my usual pithy blurb, this time about everyone needing a little hopeful in their playlist. At the time, it was really just an excuse to post a cue I've been listening to a lot lately. But in the past few days, informed surely by the past few years, I've been thinking a lot about the sincere need for more hopeful cues like this as we lumber forward through the haze. "Keating's Triumph" from DEAD POETS SOCIETY was another one that came to mind and has gotten a lot of recent play. Certainly "The Final Game" from RUDY.

I'd love to hear some other favorites if folks are willing to share.

A Certain Smile (just play the whole 1st disc from LLL), Peyton Place.

They both sound like youth and beauty and the hope that comes with it.

Kamen's Saxophone Concerto & Jarre's E.V.I
Concerto - if those don't equal joie de vivre,
I just don't know what to tell you.

Nice thread Mike :-)

Ok this went to page two far too quickly...sign of the times!!
Rota's 8 1/2
Delerue: Her Alibi End Title
Rich & Famous suite

are today's exuberant, hopeful plays

I guess everyone is too busy working through
the 24 1/2 year long album of BLACK PANTHER to bother with going back to the old stuff? ;-)
Dig it!

I think the cue from Morricone's "The Legend of 1900" that plays when the ship is approaching New York packed with immigrants reflects the hope they all had for a better life. It's optimistic, emotional and full of their dreams and aspirations.

Nice. Related, I think we could include "Back to America" (and ONLY "Back to America") from ANGELA's ASHES.

AFTER Horner's Imperial March inspired Main Titles, I love the playful hopefulness of his opening (under and over narration) sequence of SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES.

... ONLY "Back To America."

Whaaat? Coming Back to America.

Hopeful Cues?

I'm not sure what kind of hope you're looking for, but I would put the "Theme from Jurassic Park" onto the playlist, and, for some choral hope, I would add "Offerings" from The Greatest Miracle.

I always loved the music for the manger scenes in both Ben Hur and King of Kings.

Big Yes to WATERSHIP DOWN that Boggan mentioned....Big no to Angela's Ashes....well that one cue I guess, but that is such a depressing record, why go there for one thing? Rather keep that cue for catharsis after slogging the swamps of sadness there...that record, what a downer.

I'll counter with the optimistic bits of PAPILLON, like Catching Butterflies, Gift from the Sea, Freedom, how about that?
