On november 20th Film Music Reporter posted that Elfman was going to score the animated 'The Grinch' yet in the assignments column in the new issue of FSM Online Giacchino is listed as composer for this film. Can somebody shed some light on this?

Replacement score?

Scheduling conflicts?

Inaccurate FSM listing? (wouldn't be a first)

Some blog website last year said Giacchino was the initial composer. He says in his Twitter that wasn't true.

FilmMusicReporter is reliable while the FSM Online assignment section is littered with inaccuracies (most of which seem copied from IMDB).

It's also listed on Elfman's agency website.

Well, in this case, Elfman is listed on IMDb.

Many, many assignments change when a film is close to a year away, and often for mundane reasons. I have no insight into this discrepancy, though.

IMDb is user-contributed, by the way.

The pandas are clouding your mind. ;-)

Ok thanks. Looking forward to this, right up his alley.

I know this, of course. The earlier post suggested that FSM Online got their info from IMDb, and I pointed out that in this case, they did not.

And stop blaming the pandas! They are my friends!

Well, I'd look forward to an animated Christmas score from either, but my heart falls with Elfman on this one.

It was Giacchino until a few months ago (which led to him being asked on Twitter, as someone else mentioned). When Elfman was hired it was changed.

No! You're trying to make me look crazy!

Obviously, only Nigel (the one over my left shoulder) talks to me.

His management has GRINCH listed officially in his bio, though of course things can always change at the 11th (even 12th or 13th) hour.

Elfman collaborated with Tyler, the Creator on a new version of 'You're a Mean One, Mr Grinch'.

Apparently only two score tracks by Elfman (according to Film Music Reporter). Here's hoping for a separate score album.

With Despicable Me 3, there was a CD release for the soundtrack and then a digital release for the score was announced right before the movie's release. I imagine the same is happening here.

Elfman likes to bung a few score tracks on the (probably bigger selling) song releases of his films.
I imagine the royalty cheques are better! wink
He probably made a fortune from the 3 FIFTY SHADES song albums.
I expect a score CD will follow.
