Does memory betray me, or do I recall some really nice orchestral writing during the killer cigar store indian segment? A lot of mystical-sounding English horn stuff? If so, I'll have to look into this once it gets released on a relevant format most of us actually care about. Sort of, the Chief Woodenhead scoring, and agreed with both above comments. I know horror doesn't sell, despite some of us supporting it, but this vinyl only crap has to go - these things are already obscure enough. For the music - it's a fantastic cornball score. The section you mention has some over the top faux-golden age writing, a really lovely theme of nostalgia, and some electric guitar usage. It's ridiculous, but I've always wanted it on cd. The Raft sequence is mostly Rick Wakeman rock, with a nice bit of horror misdirection score at the end, a gentle theme turning hortific. The Hitch hiker has some Bill Conti type funky action music sitting alongside baroque source music. The end title collects most of these ideas, sans the Wakeman rock, along with near muzak (!!) style codas. It's a real hodgepodge, but great fun & I'm all pissed again now that I'll probably never own it. -Sean

Horror scores do tend to lend themselves well to this format. As for CD, I am surprised anybody will be releasing it at all because the owner of the New World catalog is not licensing to anybody. The man who owns it wants to sell it to somebody not do licensing deals. I'd LOVE to know where they got the rights to do an LP.

Maybe it's a 'Slipstream ' style oops, thought we had it, licensing situation, since they got C.H.U.D. too? I mean no ill will towards anyone who gets this music released, but gee whiz people. ...enough with the vinyl. Reading the numerous debates here, many of us have been there, done that, no need to go back. Hell, do a download with your precious LP at least! Not wild about that either, but it would be a compromise. I know, more licensing BS for that format as well....

Great news! Hope a CD will be forthcoming from a soundtrack label When it is released on CD, perhaps you'll be pleased if it is only available as part of a 12-disc set of completely unassociated music, with the other 11 titles being of no interest to you whatsoever. A bit like those of us who have been hoping a CD would be forthcoming of Cobert's Jekyll and Hyde. Finally a positive happy polite comment! Thanks Basil!!
