Hi Folks!

I am glad people were excited about La-La Land's 3CD Collection Vol 2 of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Coming this spring/summer is the long-awaited 4CD Collection for Star Trek: Voyager...and then after that we have a "50th Anniversary" Star Trek collection that we're going to do a little differently...because we're TAKING REQUESTS!

This 50th Anniversary album (# of discs TBD) will have music from across the 50 years of the Star Trek franchise—including previously unreleased cues from TNG, DS9, VOY (beyond the upcoming album) and ENT.

This is not to say there may not be future volumes for DS9, ENT and the other shows, but for now, we are concentrating on this 50th Anniversary collection to present as much previously unreleased music as we can.

So...if you have favorite scores and/or cues, please list them here in this thread! Be as specific as you want from the episodes—give me Netflix timecode from the episodes and I will make sure to try to include the correct piece!

Let's see how this goes. Thanks!

Lukas

Very cool offer, Lukas! I recall there were a number of things people asked for in a TNG Vol. 2 request thread that still are unreleased, so when I have a little bit of time I'll go and collect those together and bring them here for reference.

Well this is certainly intriguing. Hopefully it doesn't and it sounds like it won't derail future volumes. DS9, ENT and VOY would all look silly with a volume 1 on them and nothing to follow. I'll put some though into some ENT cues if it's going to be a bit before that one makes it out. Wouldn't mind a strong showing from that show on the anniversary set.

I'm not well versed in the challenges of the animates series, but doing less than a standalone set or album, would this allow for any music to make it?

Very cool! It sounds like Enterprise Volume 2 is not happening anytime soon, though this collection will surely be a much bigger deal.

THANK YOU! The VOY set will be most welcome, and the special anniversary set with fan input is a marvelous and very appreciated idea. You will please many Trekkers this year!

I think it's been noted several times before that all the elements from the animated series have been lost, so none of that music can ever be released on disc.

Cool!

I'll have to come back with some ideas. It's been so long since I've seen some of these episodes. smile

Just off the top of my head, I'd love for David Bell's SECOND SKIN (DS9 Season Three) to be represented. I also recall some interesting scoring by Dennis McCarthy for IMAGE IN THE SAND (DS9 Season Seven, Premiere) where he utilized piano to good effect.

The principal theme from Jay Chattaway's SCORPION two-parter (VOY Season Three) also sticks out in my memory, but I imagine this is a good candidate for the upcoming VOYAGER set.

Gotcha, wonder if there are any big moments that could be constructed from substandard sources? Might be fun to have it represented for 10 minutes worth even if it's a step down. Just a thought.

Folks, we are researching the Animated Series and hope to be able to release it in some form, at some time. That's all I can say—there are licensing as well as technical hurdles.

Thanks,

Lukas

Wow, that news is a big step up from "it's totally lost"! I imagine it would make a really cool single disc on its own, no need to include it on a compilation...

DS9, ENT and VOY would all look silly with a volume 1 on them and nothing to follow.

DS9 and ENT don't have a "volume 1" on them, they are simply named "collection". I imagine VOY will be the same. Read into that what you will.

I read into it that that I must put some thought and effort into good ENT picks lest I never see them!

Hopefully these will make the VOY cut but would love music from Flashback, Timeless, Message In A Bottle and Endgame.

Requests (and was disappointed this one didn't make the Vol 2 set that just came out!) from me!

From "Starship Mine," the music that plays at the end of the teaser, as Picard looks around the bridge. Starts at 00:04:55 and goes until the end of the act, approximately 00:05:55

I know you all need the Netflix timecodes, but all I have are the DVDs to go by. The piece can be heard at about 4:55 into the episode and goes until , just after Picard closes the channel with Orton and steps out onto the vacated bridge to look around. This is hands-down one of Jay Chattaway's best pieces for TNG, since it was designed to carry the moment as a music-only scene; a must-have for any real collector's edition!

From DS9, "Profit and Lace"
00:03:52-00:04:22: The cue from the teaser, accompanying the arrival of the Ferengi vessel; this was a nice and lighthearted musical moment from David Bell

Also, in case they don't appear on the upcoming VOY set:
From "The Caretaker" (and again, all times are from the DVD sets)
00:08:45-00:09:35: The cue that plays as Stadi takes the shuttle around Voyager and Paris gets his first look
00:15:05-00:15:40: The cue playing as Voyager launches from DS9

From "Parallax"
00:36:25-00:41:33: The cue covering most of the final act of the episode, from the moment the shuttle is first hit until after Voyager escapes
00:42:53-00:44:35: The cue that ends the episode, particularly nice because it includes a rare direct quote of the Star Trek theme in the Voyager underscore

Thank you!!!

Any of the action material from TNG's "The Game". Since there was no sample for the one cue released on LLLR's website, I don't know what was used and not used.

The rest of the score from Enterprise's "Silent Enemy". This was an excellent score with not a bad cue, but only three tracks were on Volume 1.

I think a long-ish action cue from Enterprise's "Similatude" was left off Volume 1. There are no samples. (no, not "Warp Drive Test")

Lukas, if you'll humo a little boot talk for a second, there was an alternate take to "Flight of the Pheonix" from ST: FC that I think is overall better than the one used on the expanded GNP release. I don't know if there is a slate number before it (I can check), but I can mail a copy of it to you. I would love to have that. Likewise there was an alternate take of another cue with some minor differences, which I'd love to have as well. If this works, let me know and I'll mail off both tracks.

By the way, some people mentioned the turned down wind machine in the deluxe ST: TMP set. Maybe the tracks with it turned back up would be a neat idea.

EDIT:
This would be nice to have, but it's a re-recording:

From the CD Best of Science Fiction, the funeral music for Tasha re-recorded.

Exciting! More David Bell scores.

Any possibility of including the Epilogue and End Credits from Wrath of Khan without Spock's voiceover?

Oh my goodness -- please tell me trailer music will be considered. I just forgot two:

The trailer music for the TNG "All Good Things..." finale trailer:

And the long-requested, used before on other trailers, piece for the series finale of Voyager, reported to be composed by the Pfeifer Broz.:

I came here to post this very thing.

TOS fans have such an embarrassment of riches that this is one of the last "grails" left.

What an awesome idea for the 50th anniversary! First things that came to mind are more TNG pieces which are not yet available...

• Coming of Age (tons of great early TNG McCarthy cues from start to finish!)
• Justice
• Qpid (Sherwood Forest and castle battle)
• Elementary, Dear Data (two short cues included in Vol1... Love the London scenes & finale, not yet released)
• All Good Things (Picard and Tasha in the shuttle, Picard seeing "early" Data in Engineering)

I know we have a lot of Dennis McCarthy's music but I would love to have:

Time's Arrow - Part 1 and 2
Future Imperfect
