David's been busy with some writing projects, which hasn't left him much time for CDs.

Well, I'm not sure he has those tapes - I do know someone who does, however smile One of these days...

I'm also thinking about Mr. Glasser's autobiography - I have that manuscript, too. Wonder if there'd be any interest.

He wrote a rather lengthy update on what he's up to back in June for this thread:

Cody, on another topic Bruce just said he hopes to have a Golden Age CD ready in 2 weeks! smile

I too would like to see CISCO KID and THE PROUD AND THE PROFANE on CD. I hope Bruce will issue Victor Young Vol. 2 as soon as he can.

How about David or Bruce "discovering" the long lost “The Raven" tone poem for full orchestra, composed by Glasser around 1936-1937. Since it's lost, you could produce anything since noone has ever heard it. wink

David: I've loved your releases in the past. Some essential, some eccentric (although my eccentricities seem to match yours almost always), but all enjoyable. I hope there will be more from you in the future.

Bruce: We may have discussed this in the past. I, too, have a copy of Glasser's autobiography, which is thoroughly entertaining from beginning to end. However, it is written in such a bizarre way, with tons of spelling and grammatical errors, and comic-book-like CAPITALIZATION OF WORDS!!! The problem is, if you edit the manuscript and remove that stuff, it will lose its charm. I think the only way to go is to publish it as is, with a preface stating why the text was not changed, and perhaps providing some annotations where necessary.

I feel editing is necessary, but would leave its style alone. I've seriously been thinking about doing it for the past four years. I've thought seriously about starting a publishing arm of Kritzerland.

Bruce, you just made two people VERY HAPPY. My friend PFK and myself. I hope the release of this Victor Young CD will make 998 or 1498 other people happy. Wait till PFK sees this. I'm the guy you told a few months ago to back off. I now say to you " a thousand pardons". Thank you for coming through with Victor Young ,volume 2.

I don't believe I said back off - that would be unseemly. Patience. This one's taken forever but there is now a light at the end of the tunnel.

My comments that led to what you said weren't very nice either. Glad there will be a new chapter for Kritzerland coming real soon. I hope among all those 20CF scores you plan on doing
you will find room on a multi-score , muti-disc Alfred Newman set for THE GUNFIGHTER [1950].
It's short but oh so memorable.

Thanks Bruce for the encouraging news about the forthcoming Victor Young Vol. 2! smile

THE PROUD AND THE PROFANE is on Youtube for free. The main title soars in typical Victor Young fashion. Young had a terrific gift for melody, so sorely missing in recent film music. Young was lucky enough to be involved with films when they had intelligent and well written stories with talented actors. Besides his huge gift for melody, Victor Young could wonderfully score films of romance, westerns, comedy, drama, war, epics, film noir etc. Thanks Bruce for keeping the legacy of Victor Young alive.

Alfred Newman, another giant of the Golden Age. As Cody suggested, I hope you can issue more Alfred Newman maybe even combining short scores on one or more CDs. THE GUNFIGHTER has a very robust main title, worth the price of a CD alone. Newman scored several films in the early 1950s with very short scores, maybe these can go on one CD.

I'm greatly looking forward to more high quality CDs from Kritzerland! smile
