Just follow a couple of rules and you'll have it taken care of:
1) Sci-fi heroes wear tight pants and vests.
2) Sci-fi aliens wear robes.
3) Sci-fi babes wear bikinis or leotards.
4) Everybody else in every other genre just wears their own clothes.
