FalkirkBairn: You did a fine job keeping conversations moving and making sure everyone was involved in the discussion.

FalkirkBairn: You did a fine job keeping conversations moving and making sure everyone was involved in the discussion.

It's fascinating listening to the knowledge everyone has and being able to contribute where I can!

With all the talk about The Twilight Zone I was looking to see if it was available to watch. I noticed that all seasons except season 4 are available to purchase to stream. Is there something about season 4 that means it's not available?

I was also looking at Howard's excellent thread on Walking Distance and it highlighted how, even though I like Herrmann's scores for The Twilight Zone, there's so much I must be missing by not knowing the episodes.

Season 4 were the hour-long episodes. They were historically harder to find, as they could not be conveniently packaged for syndication with the half-hour shows. While the fourth season shows have their fans, I am not among them.

Thank you for Friday, guys! One of the good ones, for sure. Only problem is that I was violently hung over yesterday, so much so that I could only move from the bed to the couch and back to bed again; couldn't even log on here. In fact, I'm even hung over today, but on a more 'normal' level.

In addition to the regulars, great to see Jim pop in. Like when I first saw Onya, some of you guys look nothing like I had imagined.

My memory of what we actually talked about is hazy at best, but I don't think anyone made a fool out of themselves. Did I play my Jew's harp and kazoo for you, or was that for the earlier Maintitles crowd?

It will be a few weeks to the next one, I think.

There was Jew's harp on a few occasions, and at least one appearance of the kazoo.

That was a really fun time!

Season 4 consists of hour-long episodes, the only season with that running time. I don't know why they wouldn't be available, other than I'm the only person I know who likes those episodes!

Speaking of which, I'll be watching the last two S4 episodes this Friday; then it's on to the rocky road of inconsistency that is season 5, the show's final season.

They were historically not included in TZ syndication packages, as it would not have been practical. I suppose the right owners continued down this path out of habit or laziness.

Sci Fi Channel (before it took on the cutesy SYFY name) used to show the Twilight Zone in hour long chunks so that they could show both half hour and hour long episodes. This was how I saw several of the hour long episodes from the later seasons. I did always enjoy this episode: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Of_Late_I_Think_of_Cliffordville starring Julie Newmar (Catwoman) as the devil.

Back on topic. After the marathon happy hour Friday, I took a break from drinking Saturday. Today, I plan to fire up the grill, and enjoy some of this from a local microbrewery:

Oooh. Looks delicious -- I love the kick of double IPAs! I all but emptied my fridge on Friday. 10 strong beers and a bottle of white wine. Three puny beers left, including an Italian Peroni, and they'll probably stand there untill next weekend. Thankfully, I didn't dig into my newly bought cognac.

And yes - as Jim said: Next time we definitely need to do a round on what everybody's drinking.

Is that your expensive cognac? I remember someone mentioning their expensive cognac.

What were you drinking at the meet up Friday?

What were you drinking at the meet up Friday?

I started with white wine, but you are probably referring to the drink in the skull mug.

That was a Shrunken Skull, one of the easiest tiki drinks to prepare: Four ingredients in four equal ratios:

1 part freshly squeezed lime
1 part true grenadine - the real stuff, not the corn-syrup-laden goo that you typically find at jive-ass liquor stores
1 part Demerara rum - I use the 12-year-aged by El Dorado
1 part gold Puerto Rican rum.

Shake with ice in a shaker. Pour over crushed ice; serve with a cinnamon stick.

OPTIONAL: Pour a shot of Lemon Hart 151-proof over the finished product. That is a little too adult for me. I reserve my bottle of Lemon Hart for amateur dentistry. I'll tell you about that sometime.

I had the Shrunken Skull during my most recent Mai Kai visit--not my favorite drink there, unfortunately. I'm a Special Planters Punch devotee.

They may use jive-ass grenadine. That makes all the difference in the world.

I'm gonna make it to one of these! Soon. Hopefully.

Rick, I've tried to research ways you can join AND drink. But to accomodate Europe, the US and Australia at the same time is tricky. If, for the next session, I start at 15:00 local time (on a Saturday rather than a Friday), it should be around 22:30 where you live, so that gives you a few hours, at least. Of course, that's way too early for the US folks - at least for a drink - but if we just keep on going, it might be feasible later on in the session.

In short, I'm thinking of doing an "Open House", in way, which for me would be a 12-13-hour session -- but one could come and go a bit. Log on, log off to eat something, log back on etc. Something like that; an experiment, really.

That would be a big commitment but it would ensure that the gathering was global!

Being new to the Zoom and Cheers meet-up group, I only just now realized there is a "Speaker View" that I failed to use, so I didn't always see who was speaking.

I've found that, since I've 'met' some regular posters on this board via Zoom, I've felt more enthused to be more active on the board.

So a big thanks for those who have taken part in Thor's gathering.
