"I miss Graham Watt, btw. Anyone know what's up with him?"
----------------------------
Graham's very busy at the moment, rebuilding Spain.
Or chopping up hotels!

Awww, how sweet! I do scan the FSM Board every day from 13:19 to 13:22 every day, just to see if I'm being talked about. And today, viola, low and be holed, there I am. I love you all.

Kev is fuzzy on the details of my recent absence, but you're allowed to believe whatever you want. That's the kind of generous guy I am. The truth is that times are tough for the self-employed. No customers, no dosh. So I'm rebuilding my one man band from scratch. Anyone know where I can get a hold of a harmonica stand with clip-on device to the shoe cymbal?

Shidt! It's 13:33! That means I won't be finishing today's work until tomorrow. On the other hand I may just say Fuckit, and give up. Nothing's impossible, except the impossible.

Thanks Thor for another great happy hour(s) session! I had a lot of fun, and it was great seeing everyone. Looking forward to the next session.

Yes great fun. Was good seeing everyone. I'm a bit hungover this morning!

Yes indeed! Thanks Thor, and a hearty cheers for hosting last night's session. How many were present at the peak period? I liked the fact that many had (probably) already dropped out by the time I logged on, nearly two hours late. That sounds terrible - surely the more the merrier (?) - but there are advantages to conversing in a reduced group.

For example - and it's a mere detail - I was struck by the SF physical characteristics of Jim Phelps and OnyaBirri. Jim "beard philosopher" Phelps' face was as smooth as a baby's arse, while Onya "baby face" Birri had cultivated an "evil Spock" beard and tash "stick on and peel off" piece of facial foliage.

I do hope our host wasn't getting frustrated and bored with our late ramblings about that classic Rod Serling telly thing that he has never seen (I hate it when people talk about things I don't know), but that's the price you pay when the numbers get whittled down, leaving only those of a certain generation standing (lying on the floor) at 8 pm Eastern Seaboard Time.

Great to see everyone in such a relaxed "no brickwalling debate" mood. Ah, Howard - I must clarify something I mistakenly said about my wife's grandfather being your grandfather's brother. I knew something didn't ring true there even as I spoke the words. E-mail to follow.

Get on-topic, people! Booze. I recall a TV news story from 1981 which covered "The Queen of The British Isles and Australia" on her visit to somewhere unimportant where she wasn't met by millions waving Union Jacks. The public didn't cheer her - they booed her. And thus the newscaster said, "The Queen received boos on her visit to...", but of course it sounded exactly like "The Queen received booze", to which I thought "lucky queen".

The End

The FSM Board can be a minefield of personalities, but everyone in attendance at last night's summit was a delight.

I'd be happy to talk about--or listen to--any non-Twilight Zone wink topics anyone wishes to cover. Discussing booze should probably be a requirement.

Graham, I missed yesterday's call. Who is this guy with the beard?

All I can say is, whoever Beardy and Bumface were, they certainly made an effort not to be seen in the same room together. Suspicious, most suspicious.

I should make mention of Graham Watt's learned insights on music. Too bad his fierce intelligence rarely translates over to his posts.

Thomas of Norn Iron has a refreshingly direct and cutting wit. Good stuff. Mostly.

Oh, and no one moderates quite like Thor.

Whenever there is another of these "Cheers!" get togethers, we should take a moment to tell everyone, when applicable, what we are drinking.

Considering all our UK friends on the call, I wish we would have spoken more about my favorite UK composers:

Roy Budd
Edwin Astley
Laurie Johnson
John Dankworth
John Barry Gray

Not to mention all those UK KPM composers like Keith Mansfield, Alan Hawkshaw, Syd Dale, et. al.

We managed to include Ennio Morricone, John Williams, and John Barry music in the discussion.

I was pleasantly surprised by the UK enthusiasm for The Streets of San Francisco, a show I haven't seen in at least 35 years.

You could maybe tell that "A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You" Monkees story next time.

I will tell that along with my story about the Turtles' "Buzz Saw."

Yes, thanks for a great chat yesterday! Subjects were wide-ranging and fascinating as usual, film music related and otherwise. I do feel a bit handicapped by not having English as my native language, because I often need to shape sentences in my head before speaking - and by then, of course, the conversation has moved on! But that's the nature of these things, so it's fine. Just listening to you eloquent guys is also a joy. smile

And Graham, please stop saying, "well, I'm just talking sh*t...". You're not! smile

Thank you for Friday, guys! One of the good ones, for sure. Only problem is that I was violently hung over yesterday, so much so that I could only move from the bed to the couch and back to bed again; couldn't even log on here. In fact, I'm even hung over today, but on a more 'normal' level.

In addition to the regulars, great to see Jim pop in. Like when I first saw Onya, some of you guys look nothing like I had imagined.

My memory of what we actually talked about is hazy at best, but I don't think anyone made a fool out of themselves. Did I play my Jew's harp and kazoo for you, or was that for the earlier Maintitles crowd?

It will be a few weeks to the next one, I think.

Yes, you played the Jew's harp while one of us whistled the opening strains of For a Few Dollars More. "Nailing the moment", indeed. wink

Everyone was on their best behavior and the discussions were varied and always interesting, to me at least, though I'll wager we won't discuss The Twilight Zone or 1970s US TV shows as much next time. I would even offer up the suggestion that those less interested in US series start a completely different subject. The "Cheers!" aspect should be one such topic.

It was an enjoyable discussion; I had a lot of fun.

Thor, I do believe you did play the Jew's harp to the later group. But not the kazoo. I think.
