Woke up to several inches of snow here in Oslo. Chaos -- even for us who are accustomed to heavy winters!

You only write in this thread when you are reporting bad weather, do you know that Thor?

What about the fantastic summer we had this year, at least in the south? Not a comment from you then.

This summer was ok, but not that remarkable, IMO. I like the fact that we have seasons here in Norway, but I hate winter and snow. That's a season I would gladly skip.

We have bright sun here in the south of the uk.

Which is quite remarkable for 11pm at night!

We hear from our tv weatherman tonight that parts of usa and canada are -30 degrees.

Isnt that like the day after tomorrow film??

As Bill says above, the weather in the SE corner of the UK is unseasonally mild at the moment. This morning, the car was so covered in condensation I could have dispensed with a bucket of water in giving it a clean.

The newspapers say we're in for some heavy wet weather for the Christmas period. We shall see.

For the first time in days the temps has stayed over zero through most of the day. So what happens? we get 20 to 30 mile winds which makes it feel again below zero.Winter has not even started yet and many people want spring.

We're catching a good chunk of the east coast snowfall now in Maryland. Too bad I have to go out in it in the morning. I wish this were Friday night.

Tonight it is in the pleasant teens. However come this weekend wind chills will make it feel like -50 degrees. It looks like a long cold winter. One where there will probably be some snow on the ground till May.

Just as predicted - with the inclusion of very heavy winds. I've never known a Christmas quite like this. It rains and howls. Then it clears a bit . . . then rains and howls some more. I'm slowly getting used to the idea of flooding at Christmas!

There were a couple of lightning strikes with spikes about 5 - 10 minutes apart a short while ago (requiring reboots.) If it happens again I'll just have to go read a book instead.

It should be cold with snowmen all over the show. It ain't so! From now on it's gonna be Rudolf the wet-nosed raindeer.

Today it's mostly clear here in Los Angeles, low to mid 70s. I was out on my bike yesterday in a trip to the bank and will probably use the bike again later today. (And that's a bicycle.)

Lite snow, temperature about zero. Wind chill with the wind coming in later will make the next 24 hours feel like -40 to -60.where are the penguins?

Very dark and cool, but I'd probably still not need a jacket, even at just past midnight.

Danger zone, went out for about a minute to the garage this morning my hands were already freezing- wind chill-steady -40 to -50- when it gusts -minus-60 and worst. Is it any wonder people didn't live as long hundreds of years ago.

Still simply gorgeous in Los Angeles, which is why I've never wanted to move back to Missouri (left when I was about 3) or join my parents in Montana! I do NOT handle cold weather well!

Peruse the evidence.

Winter 2009/10 ... worst for 30 years
Winter 2010/11 .... worst on record for over a century followed by one of the driest Springs on record
Winter 2011/12 ... mild, but a wet summer
Winter 2012/13 ... average, but followed by the coldest spring for over 50 years with heavy snow in April
Winter 2013/14 ...? Very windy, freak storms, very wet so far.

Chaos reigns. There's SOMETHING odd for sure in the UK.

The pot holes are back again simply from the heavy water action - anything already there has just been forced wide open, and deep. There has been coastal collapse from the onslaught and the end is not yet in sight. The iceman cometh next.

Just shoveled snow for 2 hours. My walkway and car port area are ready as I can get them for a 5AM departure but the road is totally buried. I should be OK as a long as the plow comes through at-least once. I used close to 50 pounds of ice melt in the four days but the snow is still coming down a bit too quick to put anymore out.

After watching the evening news for the U.S. and seeing that Canada is practically covered in white, I was wondering if anybody here is from Canada? What's it like up there?
