ROBIN WILLIAMS (hasn't everyone?) I wish. I had a friend in high school who met him when she was an extra on MRS. DOUBTFIRE. And my dad met Richard Kiel many years ago as well when he made a local appearance. For just the BRIEFEST of seconds, I read your post and thought you said Kiel was you're dad. Then I sent my autograph book to the cleaners. Shucks. (sorry, Bette.)

Jerry Goldsmith at 58 Dean Street Records. I don't believe you -- there is NO WAY two people could fit in that store! They made room by only having about 40 CDs for sale. They loved LPs in that shop.

Not too many, but a few: Jason Varitek (catcher for Boston Red Sox). I literally collided with him one day outside Fenway Park. Very nice fellow. Judd Nelson. He was filming a movie in Boston sometime in the 80s, came into the place where I worked, and bought a pair of suspenders from me. Also a very nice fellow. Conan O'Brien. Again, working in a shop. He couldn't have been nicer to everyone who said hello to him; nothing pretentious about him at all. Michael Cunningham (author of "The Hours.") A friend of mine knew him and introduced us. I liked him very much. Julie Harris. An amazingly sweet lady, and one of the handful of celebrities I had always wanted to meet. There truly was something magical about her. Yo-Yo Ma. He did a signing at (yet another) store where I worked. A true gentleman. Peter Wolf (J. Geils Band). I used to see him fairly often in Boston, and once, when I was at The Bizzy Bee restaurant in Brookline, he came in and took the seat next to me at the counter. He came across as very down to earth, and seemed somewhat shy about the attention that invariably came his way whenever I saw him out and about. One of the nicest celebrity encounters I've had. I have also crossed paths with (but did not meet) Ed Asner, Jane Russell, Whitney Houston, Senator Edward Kennedy, Raymond Flynn, Michael Dukakis, Joe Kennedy, John Williams, Keith Lockhart and various members of the 1986 Boston Celtics. All were in public places and they were already surrounded by fans or well-wishers, so I did not approach. All of them seemed pleased to meet-and-greet.

And my dad met Richard Kiley many years ago as well when he made a local appearance. Oh, man! I love Richard Kiley! He was always an inspiration to me. I especially love his two gigs on Night Gallery: The Escape Route - the one where he plays a Nazi hiding out in Buenos Aires, and The Ghost Of Sorworth Place - he plays a traveler who gets more than he bargained for when he falls for a very strange woman (Jill Ireland) who wants him to rid her home of her former(dead) husband's ghost. I also have all of Kiley's Broadway & and movie musicals: MAN OF LA MANCHA, NO STRINGS, I HAD A BALL, REDHEAD, THE LITTLE PRINCE, etc. And a bunch of his movies: PICKUP ON SOUTH STREET, MURDER ONCE REMOVED, PENDULUM...Great actor, great personality! Den
