For just the BRIEFEST of seconds, I read your post and thought you said Kiel was you're dad.

Then I sent my autograph book to the cleaners.

Shucks. (sorry, Bette.)

Jerry Goldsmith at 58 Dean Street Records.

I don't believe you -- there is NO WAY two people could fit in that store! wink

They made room by only having about 40 CDs for sale. They loved LPs in that shop.

Oooh, thought of some more:-
Michael Barry, a UK TV chef. I then fictionalised him in a couple of short stories.

I was serving on my fiance's cake stall at a farmer's market in the city of Canterbury (with a restaurant on a mezzanine) and the place was often frequented by the likes of those living nearby - Nigel Havers, Janet Street Porter (who went up to a stall of apple juice and said 'have you got anyfing for a f***ing hangover?', Orlando Bloom (and none of the staff recognised him!) oh, all manner of well-known peeps.

Although this is about my fiance now, when she was a nanny, she used to meet Elizabeth Sladen at a school she was taking her charges to and from. She also met the Queen and other Royals a few times, when she was invited to the Queen's garden parties and Lord Mayor's events.

Not too many, but a few:

Jason Varitek (catcher for Boston Red Sox). I literally collided with him one day outside Fenway Park. Very nice fellow.

Judd Nelson. He was filming a movie in Boston sometime in the 80s, came into the place where I worked, and bought a pair of suspenders from me. Also a very nice fellow.

Conan O'Brien. Again, working in a shop. He couldn't have been nicer to everyone who said hello to him; nothing pretentious about him at all.

Michael Cunningham (author of "The Hours.") A friend of mine knew him and introduced us. I liked him very much.

Julie Harris. An amazingly sweet lady, and one of the handful of celebrities I had always wanted to meet. There truly was something magical about her.

Yo-Yo Ma. He did a signing at (yet another) store where I worked. A true gentleman.

Peter Wolf (J. Geils Band). I used to see him fairly often in Boston, and once, when I was at The Bizzy Bee restaurant in Brookline, he came in and took the seat next to me at the counter. He came across as very down to earth, and seemed somewhat shy about the attention that invariably came his way whenever I saw him out and about. One of the nicest celebrity encounters I've had.

I have also crossed paths with (but did not meet) Ed Asner, Jane Russell, Whitney Houston, Senator Edward Kennedy, Raymond Flynn, Michael Dukakis, Joe Kennedy, John Williams, Keith Lockhart and various members of the 1986 Boston Celtics. All were in public places and they were already surrounded by fans or well-wishers, so I did not approach. All of them seemed pleased to meet-and-greet.

William Katt
Pat Hingle

I couldn`t resist this, Katt as in William Katt is funny for me because Katt is the swedish word for Cat.

Regarding Pat Hingle I have a memory from the local videostore and this is way back all long time before DVD`s.

I was at the local videostore with my friend Magnus and just a couple of meters behind us where to other young guys (that we did not know) they were holding the VHS case to a film starring Pat Hingle (and don`t ask me which one because I do not know that) and the thing is those two kids tried to pronounce this actors last name but they couldn`t be more wrong with their pronounce.

They said Pat Hingst. The thing is Hingst is the swedish word for Stud so whenever I see Pat Hingle`s name I tend to laugh because I ofcourse is thinking about this funny anecdote.

And my dad met Richard Kiley many years ago as well when he made a local appearance.

Oh, man! I love Richard Kiley! He was always
an inspiration to me. I especially love
his two gigs on Night Gallery: The Escape
Route - the one where he plays a Nazi
hiding out in Buenos Aires, and The
Ghost Of Sorworth Place - he plays a
traveler who gets more than he bargained
for when he falls for a very strange
woman (Jill Ireland) who wants him to rid
her home of her former(dead) husband's ghost.

I also have all of Kiley's Broadway &
and movie musicals:
MAN OF LA MANCHA, NO STRINGS, I HAD A BALL,
REDHEAD, THE LITTLE PRINCE, etc.
And a bunch of his movies: PICKUP ON
SOUTH STREET, MURDER ONCE REMOVED,
PENDULUM...Great actor, great personality!

Sister of Chris Hayes, former lead guitarist for Huey Lewis and the News? Cool. Did you ever meet him as well?
