The Banana Splits Movie
0.5 out of 10

Some nice prosthetics for the gore, but the film is utterly awful in every other way. Pretty much your typical modern horror film.

Jacob's Ladder (2019)
0.5 out of 10

See above. But don't see ether of the films.

The Wolfman (2010). A beautiful looking Blu-ray, & I always enjoy the film, in fact I prefer it to the original. Made before Universal lost their was & went in for all this Dark Universe stuff & made crap like The Mummy.

Ma
2.5 out of 10

The lead girl and Octavia Spencer are decent enough. It's not very thrilling or suspenseful though.

Skin Traffik
0 out of 10

It must be a tax dodge of some sort. A UK gangster film. It has a cast that would have been big 20-25 years ago. It's stunningly bad in its story, direction, sound, lighting, sound effects, acting and music. The rest is probably passable. It's like some people saw a 20 year old gangster film then had 20 quid to make one of their own, even though none of them could act or knew the first thing about film-making. It must be a tax dodge.

You see some great films on ice station Xeb-ra ! wink
Is it your choices that are the problem or is it availability? Four films and a total of 3.5 out of 40!! Thats major rubbish there.

Very rarely my choice and availability is the problemo.

ANGEL HAS FALLEN (2019) - 7/10

The third (and presumably last) film in the "___ HAS FALLEN" series, this film once again finds Secret Service agent "Mike Banning" (Gerard Butler) saving the POTUS (Morgan Freeman) from yet another assassination attempt, only to find himself framed for the deed. Naturally, Mike escapes from his FBI captors (with the inexplicable help of the people who framed him) and goes off seeking revenge. Much shooting, exploding, and other general mayhem follows.

These films are like the JOHN WICK series (also from Lionsgate), in that by now you know what you're getting into before you sit down in your theater seat. Like that series, they are pretty much non-stop action. But this is a working-man's kind of action (like HOBBS AND SHAW) and not the highly stylized violent ballets that we get in the WICK films. For one thing, there is little one-on-one physical combat in the FALLEN series. It's all gun play.

The FALLEN series hasn't produced anything of note on the dramatic side. And nothing in the entire series has since approached the opening 30 minutes of the first film, which depicted a chilling (and surprisingly persuasive) assault and take-down of the White House by a company of North Korean commandos.

The fact that three of these films have been produced is a case study in the internationalization of film-making. Based on their U.S. box office results, the series should have stopped at one. The first film, OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN (2013) was produced for $70 million and (after adding in advertising costs) did little better than break even in the U.S., grossing $99 million. But it pulled in another $71 million (42% of its total) overseas. They cut the budget for LONDON HAS FALLEN (2016) down to $60 million, and it probably lost money in the U.S. with its $63 million gross. But the film earned a whopping 70% of its revenue overseas--another $143 million. Thus, we have ANGEL HAS FALLEN, a film that cost a mere $40 million, which after 11 days has grossed $44 million. It has yet to open in any foreign markets.

Treasure Island - Walt Disney

This is a story that is all about knowing who your friends are and who your friends are not. Well worth a look to get reacquainted with the importance of spotting and airing out the double dealers.

Bandolero! (1968) 6.5/10

James Stewart is his usual magnificent self ("Apologize!!!"), Raquel Welch does her best to prove she is an actress, Will Geer is deliciously nasty, and Jerry Goldsmith's score has some wonderful moments, but what I noticed this time around is how...ineffective?...Dean Martin is in this film. He radiates none of his regular "Dean Martin-ness" and gives a real blah performance. He really does "phone it in" here. He's not "Matt Helm film" bad, but he's close. I think that Dino was well and truly sick of Hollywood at this time and it shows.

PULP FICTION (1994) - 8/10

I finally caught up with Quentin Tarentino's magnum opus (or at least it was until ONCE UPON A TIME...IN HOLLYWOOD). John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson are just aces as two enforcers for crime boss Ving Rhames. I could listen to those two talk all day. Although the story wraps around itself, it has a logical structure that makes sense in the end. The film is populated by first rate actors and performances, with Uma Thurman (surprisingly) being the one that comes off showing the least personality. A shame I waited so long to see this, but pleased to have caught it on the big screen.

The Langoliers
1/10

Awful two-part 3-hour tv adaption of a Stephen King story. 10 passengers wake up on a plane to find everyone else and the pilots gone. I can't believe Tom Holland wrote and directed this adaption, it's so stunningly bad in every way. Bronson Pinchot gets a point for being so over-the-top bad that he alone must have had some fun.

PULP FICTION- I know how much this film is beloved. I had a friend tell me I had to see it, was the best thing ever. He let me borrow his DVD. I thought it was boring and lame. I took all of me to get thru it till the end.

A TALE OF TWO CITIES
1958

Not seen this since i was a boy and I remembered only one scene - when the coach rides over the peasant boy and the evil aristocrat tosses a paltry coin out the window. Ably directed by Ralph Thomas, but what a phenomenally rich cast, a proper whos who of english talent...Dirk Bogarde, Cecil Parker, Donald Pleasance, Christopher Lee, Dorithy Tutin, Alfie Bass, Leo McKern, Ian Bannen, Ernest Clark, Sam Kydd.
"It is a far, far better thing i do, than i have ever done. It is a far, far better rest i go to, than i have ever known..."
7.4 out of 10.

Oh wow, I remember that one.
All that buildup to reveal creatures that looked like they came from an 8-bit video game.
I saw it when it was first broadcast and didn't quite feel the need to ever re-watch.

Yah the creatures were awful. I was quite shocked the effects were that bad to be honest, even for that time. The biggest letdown was the very dull direction and poor dialogue. I'm sure some of the camerawork was limited by the the time they had but the dialogue was mostly awful, Tom Holland was much better than this.

HOLMES AND WATSON
2018
Couldnt find any fsm reviews of this. Its rather hit n' miss. Mostly awkward and whole film doesnt seem to know what it wants to be, but one bit - although obvious - did make me laugh out loud.
Holmes runs up to his street urchins and says "i desperately need your help...Dr Watson is in grave danger!"
One kid says: "No shit, Sherlock!"

Its not a patch on Without a Clue.
I think 6.5 out of 10 is about right.
