Beautiful in southern England last few days. Bright sun - its a little early for us for a spring but cold weather due back. Feb n march can be treacherous.
Here at the south coast of Norway the snow is already long gone. Spring in the air. Wonderful!
(Just to get some balance to Thor's constantly negative weather posts.)
No spring in the air here. Just ice rinks and snow and slush all around. I'm constantly negative, because wintertime in Norway sucks! Worst country in the world to be in during this season. On the other hand, we often have the best summers in the world. Nowhere I'd rather be then.
We have had sustained winds of 30 to 40+ mph beginning around 8 am this morning and still going. We lost power twice and cable twice. The sound of the wind roaring across the ice covered lake sounds like a jet engine. I'm not usually nervous having gone through countless Nor'easters and hurricanes but this is eerie and unnerving. It's supposed to dissipate around 3 or 4 this morning.
Sitting in a t-shirt drinking Heineken in Leidseplein (and breathing in the non-standard cigarette smoke). Pretty idyllic, really. Shame we have to fly back tomorrow.
Several days of passing showers, throughout the day. Very annoying to walk outside, it starts raining, go indoors to get the rain gear, return outdoors and it's stopped. Very annoying.
As you can see, my balcony table hasn't fared particularly well in the winter weather. There's supposed to plus degrees and RAIN coming soon. That will cause even more chaos.
In a book I'm reading, it says that the further north one lives in Norway, the sooner one must bring in the animals to protect them from the cold.
Ha, ha. Thankfully, I live in the South. No reindeers here, AFAIK.
By the way, the snow is back here in Oslo. March is always tricky that way; at one point, you think spring is coming, but then there's another massive snowfall, or two, or fourteen.
That kind of summer weather is several months into the future for us Norwegians.
We've had another bout of massive snowfall in Oslo in the last couple of days. It's supposed to turn into rain and slush in the coming week. Temperatures hover around 0 C, as it has done for weeks now.

Here at the south coast of Norway it has thankfully been raining instead of snowing. Haven't seen snow for over a month.
