I'll see your George Duke and raise you Quincy.
That breakdown at the mid-point and then Louis Johnson coming back in on the bass.
Stupendous.

I bumped into these guys by accident. Looks to be 70s during the disco period, though this one isn't. Full-bodied, sexy, and the singer going for the strato with "Feeling TALL." Lovely outro with backing harmonies fading out. smile

Seems apt since it's Sunday. I believe Elaine McFarland is still alive at 77. Sunny pop, and the power of her vox.

"Lush Life"- John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman

Great lyrics from the song's composer, Billy Strayhorn, wonderful singing from Hartman, and stellar musical accompaniment from 'Trane and company.

Pacific Gas & Electric- "Are You Ready?"

The acid rock guitar solo makes this one a "dangerous" song to have in yo' head.

"Forever Autumn"- The Moody Blues

Just learned of this song's existence, and though I like The Moody Blues well enough--I like them more than I do Pink Floyd and The Rolling Stones--I wish I could connect with their music and this song like those who post emotionally and glowingly about it in the comments section, yet I don't.

The song reminds me of something one should have heard in "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" or John Nathan Turner-era Tom Baker Dr Who.

Given the song's subject, I hope I never have to relate to it.

I can't view the video you posted Jim, but is that the Forever Autumn song by Justin Hayward from Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds?

Jim Phelps, your comment that some of the songs of Madness were more "serious" than the surface might indicate prompts me to post this excellent Madness song:

"Never Knew Your Name" - Madness

The whole feel of the song somehow resonates with my own experiences from my youth. One of the few songs where I pay attention to the lyrics.

Asaf Avidan - "The Labyrinth Song"

I first heard this song in a Season 3 episode of the German timey wimey series DARK. I'd never heard any of Avidan's stuff before - his voice is so distinctive I think that I would have remembered - so once I had tracked this song down, and since it had made such an impression on me, I went to see what else he had done.

But his voice is so distinctive that I didn't like anything else he has done that I have listened to.

Indeed it is. I've linked another video of the same song, which is what Bill should do for the video I am unable to view. wink

Never met a Madness song I didn't like! I wish I'd been more into their music when I was a teen.

There's something about the use of strings in a pop/rock song that's so appealing to me. And it's so prominent in this Beatles track that it has stuck with me for most of the day since I heard it.

Apparently they (The Beatles) just told George Martin they wanted something like Bernard Herrmann strings to support the song.
