"Hot Pants, Parts 1 & 2"- James Brown

Woke up with this in my mind, but the rest of the day will NOT prove to be as funky.

Barbra singing in full voice of the song "Absent-Minded Me" that was written for "Funny Girl" but was cut during rehearsals. I never knew that!!!

I've had a few today, but this is the one that stuck.
Mike Oldfield, with a heaping helping of crunchy guitars.
A glorious racket.
Air-guitarists, get your freak on. smile

THE best version of this song you will ever hear.

It's so good I probably posted it here before.

Tracey Ullman sings.
This song never came to the United States.
Too bad.

John C. Reilly is a scream in every second of this.
But it is actually one of my favorite Bowie tunes.

The Ocean Blue- "Between Something and Nothing"

I'm pretty sure I had a bowl cut like the singer here does circa 1989.

Anyway, the tune has a fine guitar riff, solo, and superb drumwork.

Playful song and video; profound meditation on the eternal struggle between responsibility and the lure of being carefree:

Jennifer Warnes & Leonard Cohen.
The whole album is excellent, but this one is sublime and the sound quality of the CD is insanely good.

I can't believe I never saw this before the last couple of weeks. I wish more pop songs and videos would be as playful these days!

"Cardiac Arrest"- Madness

I've had this song in my mind off and on for nearly 40 years though I've never bothered to listen to it since then until today. I don't recall ever having the single and it pre-dates the group's more popular hits "House of Fun" and "Our House", making this an even greater "personal mystery." Was it a staple on MTV back in 1982? Maybe that's what it was, yet I don't recall the specifics of its music video.

Madness! Now we're talking. For anyone wanting some additional mad madness, also see the videos for Shut Up and Wings of a Dove.
