Century from Buttler but he's gone too. 38 off 18 required. Tough.

Now eight down, 29 needed off 12. Will take something special from two batsmen yet to face.

Oops. 9 down.

Actually I’m pleased for Pakistan, they’ve had a crap time in the last few years, no home matches and so on.

I'm not pleased. Lost by 14 runs. You have to look at England's fielding - drops, wides, boundaries that should have been singles. Disappointing. The bowling wasn't too hot either.

All stuff that can get back to the usual level in future matches, never fear.

Not the point. They've been beaten by a team they hammered last month. I hope this gives them a right kick up the backside. Wake up, you're in a World Cup. Horrible drops, misfields, wides, balls sprayed all over the place are not acceptable if you want to win. You're considered favourites - you should have a high standard - so it was immensely poor today.

They're really going to have to buck up their ideas for Bangladesh on Saturday, who gave South Africa a right whupping - and I notice it's being held in Cardiff, where Pakistan knocked us out of the semi finals two years ago.

I really hope captain Morgan tore them a new one in the dressing room today.

Some of the lowlights:

A little humility won’t do them any harm. In other news, Afghanistan are 47 runs away from a victory against Sri Lanka - or more likely two wickets away from a defeat. The Duckface Lewis method has curtailed their innings to what looked a very achievable total but the top order let them down.

Edit - now one wicket left, thanks to a great throw from midoff

Edit 2 - a six off Malinga, which only made him cross enough to york the last wicket next ball

Unsurprisingly, SA have lost their third straight game.

West Indies' bowling reduced Australia to 79/5 this morning. But Smith has dug them out of a hole and they are 218/6 with eight overs remaining.

Windies have the best bowling attack of the tournament so far. Searing pace. They had both Pakistan and Aus in real, real trouble. They look favourite to me.

And they qualified by the skin of their teeth...

Australia scored 288 - made it to the 49th over before they were all out. Coulter-Nile 92. Hard to tell if that's enough.

Great catch by Sheldon Cottrell, I just saw it.

It was indeed. Some poor batting from WI. They should have scored those runs.

England put in to bat by Bangladesh at Cardiff this morning, and they're tootling along. 174/1 after 28 overs, Jason Roy with a century.

And took out the umpire as well, so intent was he on watching the misfield that brought up his ton.

whoops - Root edges onto his own wicket, 205/2. Buttler on the square, being reviewed for lbw first ball.....not out.

Good job too, he's now on 50 off 33 balls. 309/3 with seven overs remaining.

Just gone for 64, going for boundaries because some tweak is impairing his running. Bluey junior behind the stumps for England?

Tell you what, everybody (by which I mean litefoot) - the Sky Sports score graphics for the CWC are absolutely brilliant. The score ball by ball during the over, run rate, strike rates, all very clear.

By Boycott, good catch to get Morgan out!
