Which team are we adopting in the Belarusian League then? Seems a bit bonkers to me that they're still playing...

I know Thomas. I had £75 In my bet365 account and have been betting it on the Belarusian matches. I thought with a lot of football fans keen to watch just some football the Belarusian league could have sold the TV rights to the matches..... It might of been quite good fun to follow a different league.

According to that article, they have sold the rights to some other countries. Half of Europe is probably betting on their games! I wonder how much longer they will be allowed to play on, before UEFA get involved.

FIFA would probably want everyone below the top league in europe to keep playing on. They could kill off as many lower league players and teams as possible, helping force the oft-longed for Super Euro Soccer League featuring just Man United, Real and ten other top teams - because it's what real fans want.

'Other top teams'..... So Man U (6th in the PL last season and 5th in this) are a top team?

Sorry BTW Thomas I didnt read the BBC article before writing my post, I just assumed it was about the Belarusian league playing on. I notice they have had just 152 cases and 1 death in Belarus.

Could that be because nobody actually travels INTO or OUT OF Belarus, though?

wink

I jokingly added them as they pull in lots of cash still. FIFA love money.

Not just belarus but Russia too. Hence why they probably havent got as many cases pro rata as other countries, nobody wants to go there. Plus theyre spread out.

Xeb Bolton communications director Paul Holliday is running a marathon in his lounge. Sky sports news showed clips of him running back n forth, skipping n jumping. Funny thing was he has a low arch separating the rooms and missed banging his head by about a centimetre each time he went thru it. Dangerous stuff, he could knock himself out!!

"Might have" or "might've", but never "might of."

I tell you, these British librarians...don't even get me started on their WWII ignorance--they're hopeless.

Nobody wants to go to Slough ( for American readers, Slough is a bit like Alabama... Ie a pretty crap place to live) either, yet this has one of the worst rates of Coronovirus infection in the UK. But of course you are right re Belarus....

Haha excellent. I needed a laugh. Just reading a very dreary book on US involvement in WW2.... I am three quarters of the way through it and still nothing has happened. smile

Either it's a poorly-written book, or we can now add "lacks reading comprehension skills" to your "filmography."

Ha, I took out a book about D-Day last year (a fantastic book, D-Day: The Soldiers' Story
by Giles Milton), & the return date stamped on the book was June 6th. Ha, look at that, I said, & she had no idea what I was talking about.

Thanks for your replies re lockdown.
Ive been trying to do something every day - exercise and jobs. Outdoor gardening jobs when its sunny and indoor jobs (decorating till the paint runs out!) when its cold n cloudy. Currently have a jungle warfare going on with japanese moss on the lawn - it had beaten me back and seemed to be gaining ground but 3 moss treatments later and 2 bouts of electric lawn rake and it aint looking so fkn clever now. However, local council have announced no more garden waste collections for the forseeable so im preparing for a sneaky counter attack! Slant-eyed moss Bastards. wink

I even washed the car - first time ive washed a motor with bucket n cloth for 30 years! So i now have the oldest car in the road - but the shiniest.

But plenty movies and tv to keep up on. Babylon berlin, Westworld, Reilly ace of spies, walking dead, vikings, Out!, montalbano...this week also got a margaret rutherford miss marple binge as being shown on tcm.

Haven’t contributed much, Bill. So busy at work that I’ve only really been able to swoop in with a brief but brilliant comment and get back to sorting out the errors of the legal profession, of which there are many.

However, it’s disappointing to see that Tottenham (in particular, but also apparently Newcastle and Norwich) have applied for government funding for the wages of furloughed off-the-field staff while still paying full wages to the playing staff. Proud of my club for coming to an agreement with the playing and coaching staff to defer part of their wages to keep food on the table of the general staff. And yes I do know what defer means!

Furlough. Never seen it used for this before, only in the sense of a military holiday. A bit like nobody said “red wall” until it was demolished last December.

Yeah, some players, greedy bastards. So many things will change after this, & I'm sure football will be one of them, something needs to happen.

This football/players wagers thing is gonna be a game changer/ender, if they don't get their shit together.
They cannot just sit back and collect their 30 to 200 grand a week and watch the regular employees of clubs and beyond suffer and starve.
Public opinion and backlash will grow, the longer it goes on, and if they really love the game and value their long term futures, they're all gonna need to wise up.
