50s from four of the top five. England well placed to finish strongly, at 249/5 with eight overs left. But Buttler was out early.

Eng finish 311/8. Alec Stewart reckons 320 is par. England just couldn't get going.

Wow - I’d have been pleased with that one! And without a catcher’s mitt, too... big grin

Indeed, a good one! Two points on the board for England, everyone taking wickets, a good start.

Today:

Oh dear - Pakistan out for 105! Windies currently 56 for 2 after only 9 overs. It could still all go wrong for them, but it's hard to envisage.

The first two balls in the NZ v Sri Lanka game: 4, then LBW after review. SL 4 for 1 after one over.

Should be a good game, but apparently we’re going wedding shoe shopping shortly... smile

I love being single.

Pakistan and Sri Lanka were whupped. NZ won with 137/0!

Looks like the Afghans will be whupped too. Only 207.

And they were. I watched most of it but fell asleep around 2am when we were about 150. Turns out I didn't miss much.

Good win for Bangladesh over the South Africans, despite a number of dropped catches and midfields. SA are now struggling - with two losses behind them and games against India and the Windies to come they could easily be 0-4.

Bangladesh are a good team. They've been good for a while so this isn't a shock, either.

It's strange that India's first game of the tournament is on Wednesday against the South Africans. That's their third!

Misfields, not midfields. But then you knew that, Litefoot.

England vs Pakistan at Trent Bridge tomorrow.

Pakistan closing in on a very good total, at 224-3 after 36. Plenty in the tank for the rest of the innings.

Roy dropped Hafeez early - who went on to make 84 - and Archer and Woakes have been very expensive. Pak 317/5 with three overs left.

England now face a run chase of 348, the highest ever in the World Cup. Might not have been the right decision to put them in.
Reminds me of the time Ireland ran down a huge England total in 2011!

Pakistan saw what happened when SA opened with legspin against England and have done the same. And it worked. Roy out. Bairstow just gone, England 62/2.

We beat them 4-0 last month!

England need 91 runs from 60 balls with five wickets in hand. Century for Root, but he's gone. Not a given by any means. Come on England!
