It's beautiful.

Donald Fagen - The Nightfly

I'd forgotten how many popular (or semi-popular) early 80s FM regulars were on this album; "I.G.Y.", "Ruby Baby", "New Frontier", "Walk Between The Raindrops"...

So, how is Nocturne?

I'm not overly impressed with it. Pleasant enough listen, but you can't help but think in parts it's "Richard Clayderman plays the hits of Vangelis".

I suspected so too at first, but after many more listens, I'm totally addicted. Just lovely, broad, pastoral strokes. Quite sophisticated too, nothing Claydemann about it. It's my most-listened to album this year.

Perhaps you're right. Should have said Phil Coulterwink

Either way, give it a few more tries. It's bound to grow on you as you discover more details. It's just a gorgeous impressionist album, IMO -- like a Ravel symphony or Van Gogh painting. smile

I will for sure. Not saying it's bad at all, just felt it veered into easy listening at times. But I'll definitely give it more listens.

THE NICE- Five Bridges
remasters with bonus tracks!

[why isn't Thor into this group instead of those crappy prog-rock bands he worships? smile]

Out of respect to Peter & Davy!

Wonderful to see them ALL at their 'JUST US' concert @ Wembley Arena London in 1997 - Great Memories!

Sorry, wrong thread.

(posted Vangelis' OPERA SAUVAGE before I remembered it was actually a soundtrack).

That's ok.
Those of us who bought it had no idea it was a score.
Good stuff!

A little bit of film music, but mostly non-film music. Fantastic album (check out this, FB, if you haven't already)!
