I wonder why entire threads get locked? Is anyone actually emailing the moderators about the topic, or are they only hitting the "abuse" button to complain about a particular post or poster? If the latter, it does NOT make any sense to lock a topic. Unless someone is hitting the "abuse" button for every post, and in that case, you'd assume the person was a troll.

I wonder the same. But I can tell you that it is two-three people here that derail these. It is a constant effort by them to create disinformation. This is the kind of stuff that people are getting paid to do on Twitter and Facebook, trolls creating falsehoods and redirecting people away from facts.

Maybe it's the conspiracy theorists doing it. Hey, Ado.
So unless it's clearly spam, I guess the mods don't want to deal with pinpointing the cause of "abuse" - they see two people arguing and want to shut it down. If it was reported in the soundtrack forum, they'd take the time to address the individual in question.

Which basically does allow for misinformation to spread for quite a long time, and content is repeatedly inserted into threads that plainly does not conform with the topic of the thread, ie, comparing heart disease to Covid. This accomplishes their goal, misdirection and confusion. I am thinking that the whole goal of these people is to actively sow disinformation as long as they can, and then hope it gets locked. They got it done.

I sincerely hope the mods will address the trolls and not let them sabotage anymore threads. I understand they have busy lives and have better things to spend their time on, but please don't let a few bad actors continuously derail threads until they are locked.
When someone throws a personal insult, they've already lost.
But it's both sad and funny that their own personality type can't recognize that. In their own heads they are still back in school. Thread shutdowns are what they are after. What a pity, though.
I agree that genetics and life style can lead to heart disease.
However, overall the analogy does NOT work as no vaccine exists at this time for heart disease. If there was such a vaccine, I'd get it.
Actually the analogy is appropriate on many levels. Heart disease has been an "epidemic" for probably 100 years, mainly from the "Western" diet. The consequences are constantly being addressed by medical research and corporations which retool their processed foods (for better or worse). We're bombarded by studies on everything we eat and drink, with solutions of new diets, supplements, etc. We're so accustomed to this, we don't even notice! Obviously the analogy fails regarding the speed of mortality. Eating a bag of chips won't kill you in two weeks. Maybe someone should invent a mask with a small mouth opening so people can train themselves to return to smaller serving portions.

Joan, if you are referring to my post you seem to have inferred that I mentioned vaccines or was making an analogy between heart disease and vaccinations. I wasn't. I was simply replying to the statement about heart disease.

Oh, they have invented something more medieval than that. They are already locking people's jaws shut with wires and magnets to stop them eating and to try and fight the 'obesity epidemic '.

I know about that, but the point was continuing the virus illness analogy with another purpose for mask-wearing.

Sorry, I seem to be on a different page to everyone.
