ANDOR---Parrot Analytics Industry Strategist Brandon Katz posted that ANDOR has a lower audience demand than other STAR WARS tv series based on social media posts, search traffic, blogs, etc.

THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RINGS OF POWER---the Amazon series had 988 million viewing minutes from September 12-September 18 which is 18% less than the 1.2 billion minutes from the previous week.
Also, Charlie Vickers commented on the future of Halbrand, "We know Sauron takes on different shapes in this era. All I can say is maybe to that. Maybe we’re going to do those things. I’m incredibly excited to explore him doing these things that we know he does. He has a s—load of rings to make, and he gets to go to Númenor, and he orchestrates the downfall of Númenor.
Then he has to take another form and go and fight in the Battle of the Last Alliance. The battle at the end of the Second Age. [But] the showrunners have a really specific plan, and I don’t know their plans as to how it’ll unfold, but I loved playing him in this repentance stage.
Whether the repentance is genuine or not is open to interpretation. But I think it’s going to be really cool now that he’s kind of out there. And it’s like, I’m back. I’ve been lingering. I’ve been coming back very slowly. And now, thanks to Galadriel, I’m back. And I’m excited to play that.”

FANTASTIC FOUR---Emily Blunt said she is not interested in playing Sue Storm in the reboot movie, but commented on her husband, John Krasinski, playing Reed Richards in DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS and him possibly returning for the reboot, "I was really happy for him because I think he's a huge fan. And I understand why it's such an ardent passionate religion for people. It's a huge part of our cinematic history now. So he was thrilled... Well, I hope [we can see him in the role again]. I hope so. You never know."

BEING MORTAL---Keke Palmer commented on the shelved movie directed by Aziz Ansari after reports a settlement had been reached between Bill Murray and a female crew member after she accused him of inappropriate behavior on the set, “If somebody could figure it out, it would be Aziz. Obviously, we got cut short at a certain point, but I will say that I am pretty devastated. It’s an amazing film. If there is some way to be able to complete, and salvage it, I would want to do it. [Ansari] would probably have to do a major rewrite, but I know what we got was gold.”
Rob Schneider spoke about Murray when Murray returned to SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE as a guest host, “Absolutely hated us. I mean, seething. He hated Chris Farley with a passion. Like he was just seething looking at him… really hated [Adam] Sandler, too. It was just naked rage.”
Seth Green also talked about Murray as a guest host when Green was nine years old, "He picked me up by my ankles. Held me upside down…He dangled me over a trash can, and he was like, ‘The trash goes in the trash can.’ And I was screaming, and I swung my arms, flailed wildly, full contact with his balls. He dropped me in the trash can, the trash can falls over. I was horrified. I ran away, hid under the table in my dressing room and just cried.”

PHENOMENA---Italian studio Titanus is developing a sequel to the 1985 Dario Argento movie that starred Jennifer Connelly.

GRIMSBURG---Fox renewed the series for Season 2.

ANIMAL CONTROL---Joel McHale will star in this Fox comedy series as a cop who was fired for trying to expose corruption and is now a cynical animal control officer.

TRIVIA---more James Bond movie trivia.
Mel Gibson said he was offered the James Bond role when Roger Moore began to have doubts about returning as 007, “I got offered the James Bond movies when I was like twenty-six, which is like forty years ago, okay? And they said, hey, we want you to be the next James Bond. And I thought about it; I was in Australia, I was working with Peter Weir (THE YEAR OF LIVING DANGEROUSLY, 1982). And I did think about it, and I sort of turned it down – for that reason. Because I thought, look what happened to poor Sean, he got stuck there for like three decades.”
Ironically, Gibson's comments were made while he was giving an update on him returning for LETHAL WEAPON 5, the latest sequel to the original 1987 movie.

Not surprised Andor isn’t finding a huge audience. It’s extremely slow and features a character that is one of the dullest in the Star Wars universe.

How is it possible, that this dullest character has the best SW show so far?

Have you both seen the most recent two episodes? I agree it started very slow, but it's entering the endgame now. Quite a bit more exciting!

Star Wars fans have generally low standards and aggressive bad opinions, so it isn't a huge surprise that a decently intelligent wartime spy drama TV series isn't fulfilling their niche.

The character was as engaging as a cardboard cut out of himself and I frankly can't understand half of the lines he delivers. I know Rogue One was a hit but I don't think Andor has anywhere near the appeal of Han Solo. He's a footnote in Star Wars canon.

That’s what he said, I’m not saying that this character is dull.
Yes, he is ordinary, because heroes are often ordinary people without engaging personalities and jedi powers.smile
I found Andor series much more exciting than I expected. It definitely is not for kids and won’t sell as much toys as Mandalorian.
Too bad they didn’t put more of this kind of effort into Obi-wan.

ANDOR's a solid and compelling watch if you wish a show that takes the granularity of the Star Wars universe seriously. It's all about how that universe ticks, in a multi-dimensional way.

Thus far I think it makes a fine, believable prequel to Rogue One, and I'm thrilled Lucasfilm took a chance on it.

We're now making prequels of prequels? wink

I have and I’m still struggling understand what the lead is saying half the time, or any iota of charisma.

Dull, dull dull.

I do wonder about the accuracy of this assessment. I am not even sure that I understand what is meant by audience demand. Is he saying fewer people are watching Andor than other Star Wars series because there are fewer social media posts, etc.? Regardless of the viewership count, I am not at all surprised that this show is receiving less attention on social media than other Star Wars shows due to the structure of the show. There are no cutesy marketable characters like Baby Yoda that might appeal to those who haven't seen the show. There are very few Easter eggs and, at least so far, no cameos of any major existing characters. The only preexisting characters who have shown up so far are Andor and Mon Mothma.

Is Andor getting strong viewership numbers? Beats me, and I doubt this analyst knows any better. The proof of the show's success will be another season and/or (no pun intended) other shows with a similar tone. I am personally enjoying the show quite a bit and hope to see more Star Wars content like this.

There's no telling how well streaming shows or hell streaming services are doing. They (mostly) don't deal with outside advertisers thus can keep their numbers internal and secret. Quite frankly I think these companies are lying to the public as well as their stock holders about the success of these shows. Perception not real data is the greatest influential tool nowadays.

The fact they keep cranking out the 10th Star Wars series or 10th Star Trek series isn't necessarily a sign of popularity as we know Hollywood has turned into a "content producing machine".

I've heard social media is the new water-cooler and you can kind of gage the popularity of a show based on how much it's mentioned and discussed on those social media platforms. Not saying that's scientifically accurate but theres probably some truth to that.

Andor is written and produced by Tony Gilroy, the guy who directed the brilliant Michael Clayton. This is a well written show that is slow cook thing, which is fine. Andor is what most Star Wars is not, which is why the metrics are terrible. No light sabors, no space ship dog fights, no jedi, no force.

Agreed, superb film.
This NYT piece on Gilroy is a good read.

Basically he wrote a treatment and Kennedy said no.
They tried some other writers, then came back to Gilroy and told him he could do his project.

Sounds like it could be a good series, but it doesn’t sound like Star Wars.
