MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 21 WONDER WOMAN 1984---new Japanese trailer released for the sequel. LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OrE20S54Hz4 JAMES BOND---a rumor claims Tom Hardy was offered the 007 role in June and the announcement will be made in November for the tentative NO TIME TO DIE premiere or early 2021. Hardy is 43 years old, which would make him second to Roger Moore's 45 when he first appeared as James Bond in LIVE AND LET DIE. Earlier, Hardy commented on the rumor, “If I mention it, it’s gone. You know, there’s a saying amongst us in the fraternity of acting, and in the fellowship of my peer group, that if you talk about it you’re automatically out of the race. So I can’t possibly comment on that one”. However, one British newspaper columnist doubted the credibility of the rumor which originated on, "...an unsourced post on a Star Trek blog that hardly anyone has heard of." SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY---Alden Ehrenreich said the news media was a factor in the movie being a disappointment, “[SOLO] didn’t do as well as other STAR WARS movies, but it still did well for a movie. And so it was kind of this medium thing. But that’s not newsworthy. Even at high-level journalism, there’s an intense pressure, sometimes, it feels like, to [either] catastrophize or celebrate. And I think that’s really f—ing dangerous, especially when it pertains to the stuff that really matters, like the state of the world. An article headline that says 'things are complicated, and there are good sides and bad sides' isn’t getting the emotional response. And I just think we really have to take a step back, and give a lot more thought to the way our emotions are being run by the stories we’re getting inundated with.” SOLO made $393 million versus its almost $300 million production cost. THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST---Jim Caviezel commented on the status of the long-gestating sequel, “Mel Gibson just sent me the third picture, the third draft. It’s coming. It’s called THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST: RESURRECTION. It’s going to be the biggest film in world history.” THE HUNT FOR ATLANTIS---Netflix movie franchise underway based on the novel about a billionaire who hires a brilliant female graduate student and an ex-SAS commando to win a race to find the lost city of Atlantis. The novel is the first of a 15 novel series. HARVEY WEINSTEIN---Queen Elizabeth II stripped sexual predator/producer Harvey Weinstein of his Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) which was awarded in 2004. The announcement said his CBE, “shall be cancelled and annulled and that his name shall be erased from the Register of the said Order.” SPACEBALLS---after the success of composing the GHOSTBUSTERS theme, Ray Parker Jr. was approached by Mel Brooks for his SPACEBALLS parody movie, which he declined. Parker said he was, "...fooling around, doing something, chasing girls or waterskiing." He said he would welcome a second chance to work with Brooks. ROMY AND MICHELE'S HIGH SCHOOL REUNION---Mira Sorvino said she wants to return for a possible sequel, “It’s not in my hands. It’s up to Disney. I would be so grateful if they would decide to do it.” She added, “I know that Lisa and that [screenwriter] Robin Schiff is interested in it. Maybe Alan [Cumming] is interested in it. I heard that maybe Janeane [Garofalo] is interested in it.” TRIVIA---more James Bond movie trivia. Carey Lowell co-starred with Talisa Soto as the Bond Girls in LICENSE TO KILL, Timothy Dalton's last James Bond movie. Lowell also co-starred with Soto's husband, Benjamin Bratt, in LAW & ORDER. Jesus wept! Old Tim looks like he's enjoying every minute of his last time in the role there. Good on 'im, and I would be doing the same in his shoes, ha, ha. Tom Hardy is a perfect fit for Bond. Ok, he might not be everyone's idea of suave but he will have the height and weight, plus his own charm to be the best since Connery. Mainly because Connery probably had more beef than was originally thought of by Fleming (who liked the idea of David Niven). But he was the first and set the whole movie franchise in motion.

Daniel Craig was an ok change of pace for James Bond, but it's time to find someone a little taller, a little suaver, and a little more sophisticated for the next round of movies. Tom Hardy would be a mistake. The Broccoli family also needs to sit down and watch all of their own movies from the beginning to understand what worked for 45 years and how they're currently messing up a good thing.
