STAR TREK---Quentin Tarantino said the script by Mark L. Smith (THE REVENANT) is almost finished, “There’s a script that exists for it now, I need to weigh in on it, but haven’t been able to do that yet.”
He was asked if the movie will have profanity, “Oh yeah! It’s an R-rated movie. If I do it, it’ll be R-rated.”
SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME---IMAX poster released for the sequel.
THE THIRD WAY---Jude Law stars in this HBO six-part fantasy miniseries about a man who encounters the secretive residents of an island off the coast of England.
OBLIVION SONG---movie underway based on the Robert Kirkman comic book. Sean O'Keefe (WONDERLAND) is the writer.
THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE---Carla Gugino said she has talked to creator Mike Flanagan about returning as a new character for Season 2, THE HAUNTING OF BLY MANOR, "Well, I can’t say anything definitive at this point, other than Mike and I really love collaborating and working together and any opportunity where a schedule allows for us to do that, we will, and I would be honored to".
ANT-MAN 3---Paul Rudd was asked if Marvel Studios is planning a new sequel, "I don’t know. You need to make a call to the top brass and start a campaign to make it happen."
GHOSTBUSTERS---writer/director Jason Reitman thanked Paul Feig for his all-female GHOSTBUSTERS reboot movie, “...for kicking down the door on what a Ghostbuster and who a Ghostbuster can be.” Reitman said about his own upcoming movie about young Ghostbusters, “It’s a new movie. It’s really about a new set of characters. It takes place in a new place, a new location.”
RUSSIAN DOLL---Netflix renewed the series for Season 2.
SPICE GIRLS---untitled Spice Girls Paramount Animation movie underway with Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton, Melanie Chisholm, Geri Halliwell and Victoria Beckham reuniting to provide the voices.
TRIVIA---the never-ending question about STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN is if Ricardo Montalban's chest is real or did he wear a prosthetic.
Director Nicholas Meyer said, "I have been asked this question 23,472 times. I stopped answering it at 71."
He added, “The guy was in great shape. ... I noticed it the first time, even I said, 'Is that really your chest?'”
Meyer said he knew Montalban had a reputation as a fitness freak, but he did not ask Montalban how he stayed in shape, "I never asked. I just copped a feel." On THE TONIGHT SHOW, Montalban revealed his fitness secret to Johnny Carson, "A lot of push-ups."

Montalban was always in great shape. So, wow the guy in his 50's at the time still worked out...! Never understood this question. Michael Landon had a fantastic build in to his 50's as well and nobody said a thing.

I'm so sick and tired of the fans who point to passive rare colorful metaphor use in the Trek series (probably the worst of which is Picard saying "shit" in French one or twice in ST: TNG), so it's okay and not unusual and we should have more. No, it's no equal and not it doesn't mean Trek should de-evolve because of douchebag fan thinks Trek should have cursing in it.
It's from the same mold of shit that goes: because of a mi-interpreted toss-away line in TOS about a woman being the bridge, it means women were less than men in the 23rd century and unusual to be on the bridge.
And yet it's these bastards who claim us older fans are "toxic" and "don't like new things" and other lines of bullshit. The only thing toxic here are the fans who want cursing, gore, nudity, etc., in Trek.

Has a film franchise ever gone from a G rating all the way to an R before?
I'm not sure about a franchise, but in 1971 Ken Russell directed an X-rated film (The Devils) and half a year later directed the G-rated The Boyfriend with much of the same cast and crew.

Well, Data's "ohhhhhh shit" in Generations was as close to harder edge profanity until Star Trek Discovery (and now I know what Klingon breasts look like). Before that was "god damn."

It's honestly not necessary to have an R rated Star Trek movie. Seriously, what kinds of stories can't be told at PG-13? What are we getting for the R? F bombs? Breasts? And how does this make it a "better" Star Trek film?
I love to keep an open mind, but Star Trek doesn't need female nipples, exploding body parts or copious swear words.
Although, to play Devil's Advocate, one of my favorite episodes of The Next Generation was the first season "Conspiracy." Which had a very graphic exploding head that would push a movie into an R. Stuff like that was the exception, not the rule.
A good, compelling story, fun adventure, a solid message and good characters. That's what makes Star Trek run. The rest is just window dressing.
