It's, "The Moonraker tapes are lost," all over again.
In two months, some other thread will report that "According to Stephen Woolston in the Tomorrow Never Dies thread, the Moonraker tapes have been lost all over again."
Dang, you're lucky! Mine won't be here until Monday or Tuesday. I miss the good old days when the USPS moved so efficiently that I'd have Tuesday LLL orders on that Saturday.
Definitely let us know your thoughts on the whole presentation!!
I listened to disc 1 on Friday night and Disc 2 on Saturday night.
It's wonderful to have all the music from the film in one place at last, no need to combine cues from the soundtrack album and the score album and the isolated DVD score track.
The alternate version of Surrender is super cool, it's one of my favorite Bond songs.
It's also exciting to have film versions of a few cues, as well as alternate versions.
This is one of the great James Bond scores and this really is a definitive treatment of it.
I remember David Arnold saying in an interview back at the time (I think it's the audio interview on the score album, but I can't swear to it) that he put everything he had into this, because he was so excited to be doing a Bond score. I remember him saying that he wanted this to be the best Bond score he could write, in case he got hit by a bus after writing it.
Kudos to Neil S. Bulk and to LLL for such an amazing album!

I don't think we will see Moonraker until 2024, in time for the 45th anniversary.
Why?
They like to coincide releases with anniversaries.
It's not mandatory though. Back in 2019 when LLL first planned to do Tomorrow Never Dies, there was no anniversary. I'd like to think a release as significant as Moonraker wouldn't be held up for two years just to coincide with a not very significant anniversary.
It's, "The Moonraker tapes are lost," all over again.
What do you mean all over again? If you say it enough times it must be true!
You seem to think I am claiming the Moonraker tapes are lost, perhaps because someone replied to that one line in isolation and you've taken it out of context.
If you go back and read the post it actually comes from, you'll see I'm criticising people for saying that Mike Gerhard had said Moonraker is ready to go.
It's another misquotation that became urban myth. Moonraker seems to attract them.
Please tell me you posted that only to wind me up.
Cheers
Of course, but I can't guarantee it won't be the last time I wind you up. The Moonraker tapes rumor is up there with Conan The Destroyer being a bad performance.
