Sadly, under new management Varese doesn't replace damaged CD cases: Cosmetic imperfections to plastic CD cases, or minor seam splits to sealed LP jackets, are not considered defective.
From the other hand - I paid FULL price, which also contain price for that damn broken CD box. So if it your shipping service even doesn't use simple Bubble wrap - give us discount etc. My recent example - I ordered 6 House of Cards CDs + Dracula. Thanks God that Dracula arrived safe. That's the end of good story. They missed one CD (really funny - they offer bundle of 6 CDs but forgot to include 1 CD! ). Of course I contacted them & they said yes, it's our mistake, will ship it stand alone or with you next order. But EACH House of Card 2 CD box was damaged, some CD even don't hold on their places! Maybe I should contact PayPal. So they could advice Naxos to use Bubble wrap, especially for such shipping prices ($32.72!!!!) Once again - it's not so easy to find replacement boxes (and especially for double CDs). And I don't want to pay another $$$ for broken items. Sorry, but this boxes are part of product, so this means that I already paid for it, and if it arrives broken, it's not my problem, IMO. And compare it with another case. I got broken 2CD case of Intrada's Troy, when I ordered it due Lukas' campaign. It was JULY 2018. I contacted them, they said - no problems, we will replace it with next order, just remind us to do it. Next order happened on 29 JANUARY - 6 MONTHS after that. And Intrada EASILY replaced broken box. Same happened with LLL, SAE...

I had to replace countless cases over the years, dozens of them. Happens very often that CD Jewel boxes arrive cracked or with the teeth broken. Ironically, old CD Jewel cases from the 80s to mid 90s seem to be sturdier than the newer ones. In any case, I keep replacement jewel cases at hand for stuff like that. I mean, those things cost a few cents, much less than the postage would cost to ship a new jewel case. It's not Varèse's or Intrada's or Screen Archive's fault if the CDs arrive cracked, because most of the time, the CDs are well wrapped and packed (in my experience). Of course, they could send them in padded metal steel safes, but that might drive shipping and handling up considerably more. :-) In fact, obviously if a 50 cent jewel box needs to be shipped overseas for 10 Dollars (and could still arrive broken), that's really just driving up costs for all beyond reason. I just have a variety of empty jewel cases at hand for these things.

Any reports from the Europeans on the subject of customs and taxes? What do you want to know? :-)

Any reports from the Europeans on the subject of customs and taxes? What do you want to know? :-) Well after the discussion with couvee in the Netherlands earlier in the thread I was curious to know if anyone in Europe has been hit by custom fees. There's definitely custom fees at times, the more CDs you order, the more likely customs will withhold the package until you pay custom fees. :-) But this has always been like that, so it's not as if that's something new. Without trade agreements (NAFTA, for example), there will be custom fees.
