Why I do this....don't ask me...especially as last year I suffered a full-blown mental breakdown , something I believed only happened to other people...I couldn't do any work for months on end. But now, thanks to the "happy pills" I am back with a vengeance and upon entering my 60th year I want to leave with something of a "bang! And if enough John Barry fans want me to record MOONRAKER ...then why not?

Bit of cutting and pasting went wrong... anyway a lot of this thread is getting like Marmite! with Moonraker you either like it or not. So those who do not like it might as well remain silent..or start another topc "I would much prefer Tadlow Music to do a new recording of anything rather than Moonraker"!!!

James informed me that the £100 pledge level is indeed the full conductor's score with every cue (and not just a single score sheet), so I've gladly upped my pledge from £20! Thanks James! That's a terrific incentive.

I thought the video was perfect. It clearly shows James can deliver what is promised.
20% of the funding promised after one day. Sure, who knows if the pledges will keep coming in, but it's certainly off to a good start.

Well as a supplement, it's fine. I think most KS campaigns add the 'human face' element as it were, which helps a lot. Having the creator talk about why they should get money and show their own enthusiasm directly works a lot to get people on board. I'm not a psychologist but I'm pretty sure it's a large part in many successful ones.

The actual written score? Wow, I'm REALLY shocked the pledge level is so low for that. That's an amazing incentive. This is something that could be made clearer, certainly.

Ah, but does this Reward include the CD, too? smile

I'm joking, of course, but my professional background is one of requiring clarity ... to the point of repetitiveness (as anyone who has read a Long-form report can testify).

£25,000 is the basic recording cost...it does not cover music preparation, editing, mixing, mastering, production etc.... all of which will be paid for by Tadlow Music

Thank you for this extra detail. I have no knowledge of costs in the music business but I'm aware that there is a lot of talent involved ... and for more than a few hours ... plus the studio costs, etc.

And knowing what our back garden make-over is costing (or, at least budgeted to cost!) then I know £25k doesn't go very far ...

All the very best of luck in raising the funds and realising this dream on behalf of the score's fans.

Hey James!

A little off-topic here but have you considered recording John Williams' Dracula as the original session tapes are reportedly lost? I'm sure the sales should be good in this case.

hi

my first kickstarter backing.

i like James /Tadlows rerecordings a lot and want to support this new kind of funding, even if i am not interested in Moonraker.

perhaps someone will join a rerecording project i want to see in the distance future.

let's see it as a experiment to get a rerecording funded that otherwise never happend!

I was going to record DRACULA last year...but was told by a "good" source that the tapes were all found and that Varese would be doing it ???

Whoa there! What? I know that this is off-topic but wow. Great news if true, although being Varese it could be decades before it gets released.

I wonder how many times LeHah will have to break this rule before there are any consequences. Also interesting to see if there will be an 'immediate deletion of the violating post".

My apologies to you, James.

I have often found in life a person can be right or well-liked and I most certainly went the avenue of the former in this thread... But, perhaps, in the wrong thread.

I just pledged £20, but for the full conductor's score with every cue, I will up my pledge as well (provided it also includes the CD of course, which is why I'm pledging in the first place. :-) )

The full score with every cue ?

I already stated in another Moonraker thread, John Barry originally wrote one hour of music for Moonraker. No more than 40 minutes or so made the final cut.

Will this rerecording be a reconstruction of the music as heard in the film ? (there are various "strange" edits in the last part of the film)

Will the source music John barry wrote included ?

or,

Will Mr Fitzpatrick and Mr Raine have access to the original manuscripts ? (that would be the real good news)

This is a wonderful (and smart) move because it has a real chance to be successful among film music fans, bond fans and others if the kickstarter reaches its goal.
