Dear MV,

First of all - THANK YOU.

One thing puzzles me. You didn't mention that LLL have this edition ready, that you're working on it.... You mentioned three other Bond titles - Moonraker, Licence To Kill & OHMSS - whose releases were delayed by the postponement of the NTTD film's release.

Why didn't you mention TND then ? smile

Hi there, what exactly do you know about Moonraker, Licence To Kill & OHMSS? Are they in LLL's pipeline? Sometime next year? Soon?

Thanks

People keep saying this but I don’t ever recall anyone from any label saying these three titles were ready to go. No one has been able to quote where this was said either. It seems like misinformation that took off. I could be wrong of course but I’ve never seen anyone actually back up this claim.

So you're telling me there is a chance. big grin

I don't expect to see these until 2024. 45th anniversary for Moonraker and 35th for LTK.

To be clear, MV NEVER said these three titles were "ready to go".

What he said is they had were planning to do them. What MV never said is how far they got with their ambitions before they got stopped, or what specifically stopped them, or whether all three titles got to the same stage.

I don't know what it is with MOONRAKER, but things people actually say get twisted into what they did not say, and what they did not say gets more airtime than what they did.

Cheers

I saw the MV statement mentioning TND, Licence to Kill and Moonraker at the time. Good that Steve found the original quote as some people seemed to imply that those mentioning the LaLa quote were making it up.

The desire for new Bond releases can become an obsession with some people. TND has happened, now we must patiently wait and see what happens with Moonraker and Licence to Kill.

I remember him mentioning OHMSS in a different posting too as a Bond album that got put on hold.

I bought TND the moment it went live, at 11:58 on Tuesday, and I'd buy any other Bonds in a heartbeat too, especially OHMSS - my favorite Bond and one of my top 5 favorite films. smile

EDIT: found it:

I’d get a new, even better OHMSS. Love the score. I’ve got the 2003 expanded cd. Like the movie in spite of Lazenby.

Dang, you're lucky! Mine won't be here until Monday or Tuesday. I miss the good old days when the USPS moved so efficiently that I'd have Tuesday LLL orders on that Saturday. frown

Definitely let us know your thoughts on the whole presentation!!

Just summing up some earlier posts.

Yes. Mike Gerhard revealed that in 2019, La-La-Land Records had a plan to release:

A 50th anniversary 2CD of OHMSS
A 40th anniversary Moonraker
A 30th anniversary Licence To Kill
Tomorrow Never Dies

Unfortunately, his post has been misquoted and massaged into the claim that all these titles are "ready to go".

That is being repeated here in this thread, and it is something he never said.

It's, "The Moonraker tapes are lost," all over again.

(As is that other misleading misquotation, "John Williams wants to score the next Bond film.")

Please, folks, if you want to quote people, QUOTE them, don't misquote them, massage it, and salt, and create false urban truths that take decades of whack-a-mole to knock down.

Now, to be clear, it is POSSIBLE they were all "ready to go", but my point is, don't say that's what Mike said when it isn't.

From what he posted at the time, all we know is there was some kind of a plan that did not come to fruition then. How far anything went, we do not know. He does. We don't.

However, now Tomorrow Never Dies has appeared, let's be cautiously hopeful those others might come.

Cheers

Stephen totally agree with your summary above, all of us James Bond Music fans & the James Bond fan community just need to keep faith with MV & the La La Land team that they want the best for all us fans and they can continue the James Bond expanded scores project, the franchise deserves this after 60 years of films

I just think these things take time & maybe LLL are trying to negotiate a deal on all the James Bond Soundtracks which would be with EON ,Capital Records ( now UME) , MGM & Amazon after the deal went through with Amazon this year (see point 2 in MV’s post on Facebook in Jan 2021 on the James Bond Music page that says they we’re working on a deal when the Corona virus struck).

It is absolutely fantastic that we have had 3 expanded Bond scores since 2017 from LLL & without the Corona Virus , the new Bond film NTTD & the MGM merger with Amazon I’m sure we would have had more, let’s hope & pray we see more Bond expanded Bond scores throughout next year & we do not have to wait till Black Friday next year 2023 to see the next one.

I got my copy today and started listening.

Really great.

I’m curious whether the songs are the same versions heard in the movie or are they from a different source?

They sound great and match the score cues.
