In anticipation of the new 30th Die Hard set I’ve been revisiting Die Hard With a Vengeance.

Here’s my take on what the album should have been back in the day, with the focus being on the Johnny Comes Marching Home stuff. It's kinda buried in the bonus section, but"Somebody Had Fun" for me is a crucial part of the score and I always place it right before the Bank Invasion.

01-Main Title
02-Taxi Chase
03-The Subway part 1
04-The Subway part 2
05-Somebody Had Fun (bonus track)
06-Bank Invasion
07-John and Zeus
08-Yankee Stadium/School and Tunnel
09-Infiltration
10-John Makes it Mad
11-Escape (bonus track)
12-Mercedes Chase/School Assembly
13-Holly/Celebration
14-Oh, Canada!
15-Johnny Comes Marching Home

Thanks for sharing your whittled version of DHWAV, I should look into adding that "Somebody Had Fun" track to mine... although, any particular reason why you didn't want to include "Ode To Johnny", possibly the best unused cue that Kamen might have composed?

Yeah it’s a good cue, but I just wanted to keep the focus more on Johnny Comes Marching Home and less on Ode to Joy. It just feels out of place and we had enough of it in part 1.

Indeed. As I said on an earlier page, I have a looooong list of 'whittle projects' to deal with. But it's so time-consuming. First I need to familiarize myself with all the music, then I need to find the highlights or good 'connective' tissue tracks that make it a good listening experience, then I need to arrange them in iTunes (which isn't the best player for such editing activities).

So I tend to postpone it, listening to my albums that are 'properly arranged' from the get-go instead.

Oh, these first world problems....

Drop drinking and you'll find the time. wink

And here is my fantasy 1997 album for Breakdown, which I would have killed for at the time.
(Taken from disc 1)

01-Main Titles
02-Gas Station/Leaving Belle’s
03-Route 7-North
04-Deep Wacko /Heist Explained
05-The Bank
06-Earl and Cop Shot/Speeding Truck
07-Jeff Sneaks Into House/Deke Freeze/Car Chase
08-End Credits

I can just picture it with 90s varese artwork and large red font for the track list on the back, with black and white stills inside the wordless booklet.

For Intrada's Jaws 2 I substituted four tracks from the original soundtrack Disc 2 because they flow a little better without long fade-outs or pauses from Disc 1....

1) Finding the Orca (Track 1, Disc 2)
2) The Shark Prowls
3) Sailing
4) The Water Kite
5) The Water Skier/Fire On Board
6) Catching the Cable
7) Brody's Thoughts/The Charred Body
8) The Menu
9) Brody Misunderstood (Track 5, Disc 2)
10) More Boating
11) Ballet For Divers
12) Boats in Danger
13) Eddie's Death
14) The Open Sea
15) Rescue Party
16) Sinking the Catamaran
17) The Big Bite
18) Attack on the Helicopter (Track 8, Disc 2)
19) Sean's Rescue
20) Toward Cable Junction/More Teeth
21) The Big Jolt! (Track 13, Disc 2)
22) End Title, End Credits

Total Time 47m,45s

I'm still so used to my own titles for both versions of the score that I can't even tell you if this is a good Varese fake. I'd swap out the film version of the big chase music for the one from the rejected version, which is fucking awesome. Is Speeding Truck the part where he climbs the truck? If so, that's a good choice.

EDIT (before even posting) - You left out the word "Climb" in that track title, so yes, good work. I'll listen to the rest and see if I come up with a different version.

Cool. I've been planning on taking BREAKDOWN for a test drive recently.
I never did make a whittle edition, although I remember all the really good shit being on disc 2.

Moana (Deluxe Edition)

Like many modern scoring I'm usually disappointed with the action music. After his fabulous work on the Planes series I expected a lot more from Mark Mancina. But a lot of the action music on the OST was dull percussion. This is a rare case where I like the songs a lot more than the score. I tossed C&C to the wind on this one! The last track is a "bonus" cue I ripped from YouTube.

Tulou Tagaloa
Te Fiti Restored
Where You Are
Tala's Deathbed
Know Who You Are
How Far I'll Go
Maui Leaves
Toe Feiloa'i
We Know The Way
Voyager Tagaloa
You're Welcome
The Return to Voyaging
Logo Te Pate
Navigating Home
It's Called Wayfinding (Score Demo)
I Am Moana (Song of the Ancestors)
How Far I'll Go (Instrumental)
Sails to Te Fiti (Score Demo)
Hand of a God
We Know The Way (Finale)
An Innocent Warrior
How Far I'll Go (Reprise)
You're Welcome (Instrumental)
Moana Short Haoloto- Te Vaka

Spider-Man Homecoming

An infectious charming score, though once again the action music didn't delivery so that's where the majority of my whittling took place.

Theme (from "Spider Man") [Original Television Series]
The World is Changing
Academic Decommitment
High Tech Heist
On a Ned-To-Know Basis
Drag Racing / An Old Van Rundown
Webbed Surveillance
No Vault of His Own
Monumental Meltdown
The Baby Monitor Protocol
A Boatload of Trouble Part 1
Stark Raving Mad
Bussed a Move
Lift Off
Vulture Clash
A Stark Contrast
No Frills Proto COOL!
Spider-Man: Homecoming Suite

Total Time: 55:58

My whittle is very nearly the same except that I include "A Boatload of Trouble Part 2" and "Pop Vulture" rather than "Stark Raving Mad" (a nice enough cue, but one that doesn't seem to fit tonally with its gentle guitar strumming and solo string instrument) and "Vulture Clash" ("Lift Off" serves perfectly well for the climax for me).

Total Time: 57:06

Aquaman

Wozers! This one needed serious whittling. Kind of a fun little synthy score after I took out the tracks I didn't care for.

Arthur
Kingdom of Atlantis
It Wasn't Meant to Be
What Does That Even Mean?
The Legend of Atlan
Swimming Lessons
What Could Be Greater Than a King?
Suited and Booted
Between Land and Sea
He Commands the Sea

Total Time: 40 mins (just shy of)

I kinda like the song "Everything I Need", so that may add another 3 mins to the playlist

Was disappointed in JNH's follow-up at first until I whittled this snug Varese-style album that focuses less on the action, more on the crystalline beauty.

Cool, thanks Tango.
I, too, liked the first JNH Snow White score but have struggled with the follow-up.
I'll give your whittle a go.
