I also believe that customs duty on audio CDs is very low - something like 0.5% or 1%. So customs duty on an order of £150 of CDs would be only about a pound.)

Plus a handling charge of £8

I thought Vat on imported CDs was 2.5% if classed as a gift and package value over £135

But there won't be a handling charge by royal mail if it's done by the sender, n'est Pas.

Has anyone in the UK placed an order with La La Land, Screen Archives, MovieMusic or Intrada since January 1st? If so, what happened to the order?

I did, with SAE on January 9th. It's still pending.

Posted today, so will have to wait and see what happens at the border here in the U.K. It usually takes a couple of weeks at the best of times, so give me at least a month before asking what's happened.

Finally got the package today, with, wait for it, no charges. It was properly marked with the value as well, so seems our Customs couldn't be arsed to handle it properly confused

That's pretty good, considering SAE was the one company I always 100% caught customs charges with even before all this!

In all the time I've had orders shipped over by SAE (since October 2001), I've had charges ranging from the full gamut (VAT, Customs, Import, RM Handling), through partial (Customs, RM Handling) to absolutely nothing (nada, zip). So for me it's been a very mixed bag.

Same here.
Recent orders from Ark Square and Intrada have all arrived without any further ado.
The only thing I noticed was an order from a seller in USA, via eBay, would incur some further global postage thingy on top of the item price and advertised postage.
Looks like the only companies taking any notice of it are eBay and Amazon.
Now there's a nice change wink

The price you pay Beat Records in Italy will already have VAT included in the price (22% at present I believe) so there would be no extra charge when imported into the UK.

FYI, this same thing is coming to a variety of EU counties this year as well.

The power they have is to not accept packages from Companies and such which are not registered with them and RETURN THE PACKAGES to the sender....

sooner or later they are going to start doing this and it's going to be a royal pain in the ass for just about everyone.

The good news is that eBay collects the VAT tax already and remits it as well.

Was about to post something similar. There is a bit of a grace period at the moment, but that could end at anytime.
I did pick up some Intrada titles from Amazon.com at the weekend. Sold by Intrada, fulfilled by Amazon. They also collect the VAT so won’t have any problems.

I hate not being able to give the money directly to the labels, but at least I’m still trying to support them.

Just not sure how to get La-La Land titles at the moment. They don’t seem to supply Amazon.
