Not really. I've met several people my age who have distaste ranging from mild to severe when it comes to the 89 movie.

In 1989, there was no movie bigger or more important in the universe than BATMAN. Especially if you were 12 years old. Seeing that movie changed my life.

Thanks, LLL.

Between this announcement and the Alien Anthology Blu-Ray press release, today turned out to be a great day!

M.V., et al... as one of the guys who mentioned Star Trek V, I just wanted to say that, while the guessing game can be fun, I will try to be less overzealous in the future.

Batman and Krull... I'll take one of each! M.V., you go right on quoting regulations - I mean, producing albums. smile

And look at it like this... at least we didn't have to play the "Is the Horner title Star Trek III??" guessing game. smile

Believe me when I say this, this project was a dream come true and now I personally feel my film score circle is complete. In June of 1989 is when I fell in love with Film Scores and now in July of 2010 I had the opportunity to produce the very score which brought me here today.

Nothing after this release will have the same deep meaning as this score, but they will be great nonetheless!

MV

MV, now I understand why BATMAN has been released. I love the Warner album, so there is no need for me to get this one. But I hope you will finish soon the contractual negociations successful for BATMAN & ROBIN and maybe also for BATMAN FOREVER and release them on 2 CDs.

Thanks a lot for releasing KRULL ... I was wandering just a month ago, if one of the labels would bring out KRULL remastered, and here it is from La La Land! big grin

... after INDEPENDECE DAY, THE EDGE and now KRULL you deserve already the title "LABEL OF THE YEAR"!!! smile

I'll agree to this and also to the importance it has in film music for those of us who were young and impressionable. Anyone who truly wants to try and degrade this score both in quality and influence will pretty much make stand up comedians obsolete.

Interesting. So the original soundtrack featured non-film version tracks of the music? I've never noticed that before. (But then again, I hardly ever watch a film and then listen to the score back-to-back.) I used to say I was content with the OST and had no interest in an expanded version, but in light of this "film version" revelation, plus the expected multi-page booklet and the bonus track of "Joker's Commercial," I must now seriously consider picking this up.

Thank you, LLL. Why not just take all my money? big grin

Not really. I've met several people my age who have distaste ranging from mild to severe when it comes to the 89 movie.

I know a few as well. Ironically enough, they would proclaim their love for the '89 movie until 2005, when Batman Begins came out and they suddenly jumped on the "Bash Batman" bandwagon like lemmings and started going, "Well, the '89 movie was never really that good anyway." Yeah, that's why you said you loved it for so long. If you don't like the movie, that's fine, but turning around and suddenly feeling embarrassed by your liking for it nowadays just before the Nolan movies are so popular just makes you look stupid.

Personally, animated movies aside, it's the only Batman movie (along with its sequel) that I care to watch.

While working on the Krull set, did you guys get to hear the un-license-able song?

Yes, it's quite nice. If I remember correctly its the love theme with lyrics.

MV

MV, could you tell us who were singing the song and what is the title of it?

I've tried, but just don't like the new Batman films. The Columbia serials weren't much cop. The 60's film is a lot of fun, but it's more about the 60's than anything else. Batman 3 & 4 are crap. Burton's Batman & Batman Returns are magnificent movies. The cast, the look, & most of all Danny Elfman's wonderful music.

Same here. The Nolan Batmans aren't anywhere near as good as the Burtons. I couldn't believe people took to them like they did.

I love these guys: if doing all kind of offers and discounts, trying to have signed CDs (for the same price) and having the best customer service wasn't enough, where others would charge $25 for a 2CD release (even when the second CD is just the album version), they stick to $20. Thanks LLL

some things about BATMAN IMO

That BATMAN ACTION MIX - I have it - it's Just MAIN TITLE mixes together with ATTACK OF THE BATWING - nothing is missed here - mail me if you want it on Youtube - include your mail

MANY CUES FROM the OST was just cut-short versions of the music - hence the difference in SHOOT OUT

As presented before - Here is how the new version of SHOOT OUT will be - THIS IS A MIDI

remember that on CD it will be a real orchestra but the melody line will be the same since this MIDI was created from the original concert score sheet to the film.

I'm looking forward to ALIEN 4 and i Hope that BATMAN RETURNS not is mixed like the music was on ALBUM - i would like the cues in film order thanks - the CAT SUITE was one of that tracks you could have repeating itself all the time becaurse of the beginning and ending of the track LOL

Heh, I read this thread and I picture poor MV Gerhard standing at a podium with flashing bulbs going off and microphones all around with message board members, holding pen, paper and tape recorders, raising their hands and asking questions.

Kinda like this? wink

KRULL is one of my top-five faves of all time. Have the SuperCollector, but will re-buy anyway.

Have never been wanting for more Elfman BATMAN, but it sounds interesting -- will consider!

Keep up the good work, LLL!

"Krull" is one of my favorite Horner scores. A time when he really wrote some good music, just compare this score with his recent junk i.e. "Avatar".

First, let me say that I am not calling you an idiot.

Secondly, why are you re-buying things you already have?

It's a great score, it really is. But if you already have it, why not let someone else get that copy?

Well, it takes up less space, and it's remastered. The Supertracks versions sells for good money, so one could probably make back more than the payed.

Why NOT rebuy it?

I'm re-buying it as well.

Mark!!!

I'm just wondering, aside from the fact that it's going to be in a smaller jewel case ($20 for a jewel case?), the liner notes ($20 for liner notes?), and the remastered audio (how much better can you make it sound?), why bother? LLL puts out so many good titles that you probably don't have, why buy another Krull? I've already spent $85 on Krull over the years (the Gold disc and the Super Tracks edition, which I instantly converted into a slimline 2CD case), and I'm sure you guys have, too. For another $25, the Ambrosian Singers should drive over to my goddamn house to sing their choral parts.

I'm not trying to completely take a crap on this release or anything (as much as it sounds like it!!), I'm just trying to figure out the logic here. With the wealth of titles coming out, it just seems...I don't know, strange and unusual to re-buy so instantly.
