Yes, we have the Plummer vocals for the three songs he recorded at the end of production. For those interested, I speak about the release briefly with Tim Sika on "Celluloid Dreams" today. It's on KSJS San Jose every Friday at 2:00 p.m. Pacific. More in-depth discussion will follow closer to the release.

If Mike Mattesino can confirm this…I have heard word that Disney/20th has somehow lost the rights to the classic film. If this is so, this would be the first time in nearly two decades that THE SOUND OF MUSIC has not been shown on television or in theatres. Is it in litigation? Is there no renewal of rights to this film? Hopefully this mystery will be solved as soon as possible. Until then, we will have to rely on our DVDs, Blu Rays, LaserDiscs, and VHS’ of the film to watch this holiday season. I still plan to buy the new soundtrack, though. I don’t know if they’ve lost the rights to Sound of Music, but Fox/Disney definitely lost the rights to Oklahoma and South Pacific, which have been acquired by Samuel Goldwyn Films. https://variety.com/2023/film/news/rodgers-hammerstein-south-pacific-oklahoma-samuel-goldwyn-films-concord-originals-1235759011/ Going a little more on-topic, the R&H Organization’s YouTube channel uploaded the alternate version of Something Good with Christopher Plummer’s vocals. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fcf8hpyONEI

Craft now has a warning notice on their website: "WE'RE CURRENTLY IN THE PROCESS OF MOVING TO A NEW WAREHOUSE FACILITY, AND WE APOLOGIZE THAT MANY ITEMS MAY BE UNAVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE DURING THIS TIME. WE'LL BE BACK UP AND RUNNING VERY SOON. THANKS FOR YOUR PATIENCE!" It's not letting me complete a preorder transaction to either my apartment or my office. It's saying: "Shipping not available. Your order cannot be shipped to the selected address. Review your address to ensure it's correct and try again, or select a different address." I tried two entirely different valid addresses, that makes no sense. It looks like the website won't allow preorders to be placed, though it lists the item as available again. Hope they still have the Super Deluxe edition available once their website is working again.

This just seems like bad luck timing. The Super Deluxe Edition is not limited from a licensing standpoint. The material is now fully covered for perpetuity. I haven't heard anything about a limit to how many Super Deluxe sets with the book are actually being made, so if it becomes unavailable at any point it will be an out-of-stock issue, not out-of-print. I can only imagine it's an involved item to put together. I haven't physically seen one myself yet. As for the movie rights, the renewal process between R&H & 20th is moving along and will, I'm told, be wrapped up soon. The King and I is subject to the same periodic renewal deal, while 20th controls State Fair and Carousel fully. Oklahoma! and South Pacific are owned by Goldwyn/R&H and 20th's distribution of those is basically an extension to the studio's original involvement with the 35mm version theatrical distribution. For simplicity more than anything else, 20th and R&H formed a cooperative to keep all six in the market, often packaged together, but now that it's Disney and Concord the playing field is a little different than it used to be. And we're strictly talking movie rights here. Soundtracks are another matter. Disney would have phono rights for State Fair. South Pacific is with Sony Music (RCA Victor), and the others would be with UMG (Capitol).

It states here that the Festival reprise of 'Do-Re-Mi' is not complete... ...as I have found the time references... — 39. Do-Re-Mi (Festival Reprise) – Julie Andrews (1:11) — 81. Do-Re-Mi (Festival Reprise / Instrumental Version) (1:00) I was hoping for a two minute version (at least)... because in the film; it begins halfway... What happened to the opening of that version? I'm sure it wasn't recorded that way? Or do we need to edit our own versions? Anyone interested... here are the time references: https://filmmusicreporter.com/2023/09/27/the-sound-of-music-super-deluxe-edition-soundtrack-album-announced/ The full version heard in the stage show was not recorded for the movie. The tracks are what they are and presented as recorded. The film version has an orchestra intro, which is a repeat of the start from "I Have Confidence," and that bit is not repeated for track 81. Just like the 30th Anniversary CD, No tracking of "I Have Confidence", this time with vocals (as originally intended). Also I believe you are aware that there is not an Instrumental Version of the "My Favorite Things (Reprise)" [found exclusively in the Commentary by Robert Wise/Isolated Score on 30th AE LD, DVDs and BDs].

Soundtracks are another matter. Disney would have phono rights for State Fair. Including the 1962 remake? (I am aware of the TT BD's Isolated Score [I take my hat off for your efforts of bringing unreleased numbers and "Our State Fair (Main Title)" completely instrumental (the Varese Album only had chorus sans [without] Pat Boone, Tom Ewell and Alice Faye vocals [as heard in the film and the Dot Records album]) into the public] and the majority of the music numbers are more or less based on the 1999 Varese Album) Have lots to say about "State Fair" (1962), but I think you can take it from here. Thank you. :-)

The instrumental intro to "I Have Confidence" is included as part of the main program version of "Do-Re-Mi (Festival Reprise)" but not for the orchestra only version. There is no orchestral version of "My Favorite Things (Reprise)" because the tracks did not exist in a way that could be presented. On the video releases, it's a Music & Effects track.

Both CD editions are listed as SOLD OUT again at Craft. https://craftrecordings.com/collections/the-sound-of-music They were briefly in stock for the last day or so, but once you put them in your basket, it was not possible to actually complete a purchase. I tried multiple times, to multiple addresses. I get that they have their warning about moving warehouses, but it's weird that the SOLD OUT status keeps going back and forth. At least I still have a preorder through Amazon.

As a nerd in Film/Music, staying true to the Composer's Original (or Isolated) Score, A: Film Mix: Tracked Intro 30th AE: Full Number [taken from Master Tapes, I believe] (No Tracked Intro [Composer Intended Way, maybe?) 40th AE: Tail-end of Tracked Intro (taken from the Film Mix) 50th AE: Tail-end of Tracked Intro (taken from the Film Mix) B: I'm aware of that.
