Ebay now adds 20% VAT to international orders placed by UK buyers. However, as far as I'm aware, none of the US or EU labels or retailers (such as La La Land, Screen Archives, Movie Music, Intrada) sells on ebay. In fact, the only soundtrack label or retailer outside the UK that sells on ebay (that I'm aware of) is Chris Soundtrack Corner (which goes by the unusual name 'urgana'). Unless the US retailers and labels get their act together regarding VAT, my solution will be to place large and infrequent orders over £135 with Music Box Records, and just hope the CDs I'm interested in don't sell out/go out of print between orders. SAE actually used to have or still has an ebay store, doesn't it? I think the same case was also BSX at some point and Creature Features.

My CSC order from Germany is about to ship, that's the one I'm expecting problems with. Timothy, please let us know if there were any problems with your CSC order. Thanks. Well, it's got through Heathrow in less than 24 hours without any problems. Last few packages I've had have gotten stuck there for like a week. I'm cautiously optimistic.

I'm glad that person who visited the site found it to be thoroughly clear and understandable. I take it you didn't have to fill out their endless forms where they used financial and business terms that we don't use over here in the States, ... Talk about red tape! Ah, that was me. I wasn't intending to be flippant and, after a working lifetime of trying to understand our HMRC tax legislation (of which VAT is some of the densest), I honestly feel sorry for you - and others in a similar situation - seeking to comply with our country's rules. My comment was limited to the web-site text which sought to explain what sellers, such as you, are required to do and in that it is the clearest description I've read. Our HMRC web-sites are as usual, like one spot of clear water in a muddy pool ... you have no idea what you can see unless you've looked in many other such muddy pools ... and even then, when you've put the few pieces together you never know if there is something else adjoining, not yet spotted. I hope the business you generate in the UK rewards your investment in dealing with this red tape - good luck! Mitch

Chris Soundtrack Corner. A guy who sells score CDs from Germany. He usually offers a free postage deal around the end of the year. Thanks Kev. I never saw it as a set of initials. I've just ordered Orville, Season 2 from there. I know they've cancelled a 4th Season, but I hope Season 3 gets a CD release.

A few days ago there was a report on EuroNews about GB fishermen who now financially suffer because the EU is not taking their goods because it would rot in customs. So the prices for fish dropped dramatically. So the UK has to now not only pay for extra customs staff but also for soon backrupt fishermen. Good job, David C. !! You should take a wider view and do so on a board that deals with politics.

Today I received a package from Japan. Untampered by customs in any way.

I delivered a package to a customer, from the US. Ito value was $143. There seemed to be nothing different to the label from what we all know.
