Just listened to the children's choir version of "Making Toys" (disc 2, track 7) and was surprised that during the second half of this track the children's choir also sings. So this release includes five different versions of the song: film version without children's choir, album version with children's choir during the first half of the track, version with children's choir during the whole track, version with men's choir and an alternate instrumental version.
Now, does the credits state National Philharmonic or the London Metrolitan Orchestra....just asking?
Actually the credits state National Philarmonic Orchestra (instead of National Philharmonic Orchestra).
The full songs were suppose to be featured in the film. But they decided to favor the instrumental versions instead. This caused a big riff between Leslie Bricusse and the producers. He was not happy with how his songs were featured or lack of songs were featured in the final film.
The song Every Christmas Eve that appears briefly over the Main Titles was called "Giving" and was supposed to be featured fully. Here are the lyrics:
Ev'ry Christmas Eve, we are part of the Miracle. Ev'ry girl and boy shares the joy if they believe. You can share it too. Just believe in the Miracle --- You will carry Joy with you ev'ry Christmas Eve.... (film cuts off here)
So that ev'ry Christmas, Ev'ry gift of Christmas And all that you wish will be yours; For ev'ry Christmas, Christmas isn't Christmas Unless there's a Santa Claus, Unless there's a Santa Claus.... (repeat opening stanza) In this whole world that we live in, There is one pure joy that ev'ryone can share: The joy of giving To the people for whom we care. When you give love in small ways, You'll know it's always there. To be giving and forgiving Is to understand the joy of living. What's so hard about giving? It's a perfectly simple art. The trick is to give with love from the start And to give with an open heart......

I guess the full lyrics for this song weren't recorded, because the Quartet album does only include the lyrics heard in the film. Track 6 on disc 2 just has some different lyrics sung by an uncredited singer.

Yes, they must have made a decision not to feature the full song. Its unfortunate, as it would have been nice to hear it how Leslie intended as well. Did you get my email I sent at your info account?
