The distinction doesn't mean anything to me, so I don't really care. That's my favorite musical scene transition in all film soundtracks. If I had to choose one example to best illustrate Rozsa's dramatic genius, that would be it. It's a thrilling transition, but does the credit belong to Rozsa? If we've learned anything from studies of this score, it's that the movie's final editing stages involved endless tweaks made without the composer's involvement. Film really is a collaborative art, and sometimes the good choices, as well as the bad ones, are made by somebody other than the composer. Well, if the new release is Ben-Hur, maybe the specific cue notes will clarify that. To my ears, that transition sounds composed rather than the work of an editor. For international customers, the first disc is USD7.10, and the remaining 4 would be 2.10 each. That makes it 15.50 for postage alone, on top of the price of the release.
