More samples up on YouTube although, like the previously overly available THE SOLDIER opening title, they aren't very interesting (We've all heard White Eagle before a thousand times, studio or live). Hopefully they'll upload some THE KEEP so we can have a better idea of what to expect or at least something we've never heard before from THE SOLDIER.

Meh, The Keep will be just the old crushingly disappointing TDI release. I foolishly overpaid for it years ago and happily sold it at a loss.

And that Amazon price will likely drop. Almost half the amount of discs as the previous box and twice the price?

The MP3 version is only $42.99. Am debating going that route for The Soldier and the complete Dominion concert. But, compared to the first box, this one is a disappointment as far as unreleased music. Maybe the first one didn't sell well so this one was scaled back.

Review of the first official KEEP's DVD coming from Australia:

Yeah, I've got this. As the review says, its not brilliant but its the best option out there just now.

I just got it, but haven't had a chance to look at it yet.

This is one of the reasons I love having an Apple Music subscription - in addition to storing many gigs of my own collection in the cloud for instant playback. I've already added it to my library, and more tracks appear each week.

Takes the sting out of the inevitable disappointment I too will feel with The Keep. I will be able to enjoy some albums I never found - and now never have to.

I'm just glad I don't like the film or music, for a change.

The book on the other hand was very good. Film was not like what the book conjured up.

I'm hoping as well. I think they'll keep it '84 to '86 then an '87 to '89. FLASHPOINT, FIRESTARTER need serious remasters and both scores have plenty of unreleased music. FIRESTARTER practically has a completely different film score mix than the album for whatever reason. I can imagine a STREET HAWK disc without titles like THE SOLDIER. I'm thinking the next round will have remastered Underwater Sunlight, Le Parc, Poland, Livemiles and Green Desert. Probably include a live album from 1986 (I'm hoping Irvine Meadows 6-6-86 since I was there and it was Edgar's birthday). There are several soundtracks they could choose from, most with many different film mixes compared to the albums though, so, no idea where they would go (HEARTBREAKERS/FIRESTARTER/LEGEND/FLASHPOINT/RED HEAT). Probably throw in some singles like A TIME FOR HEROES, Street Hawk (radio mix) and Warsaw in the Sun. Whatever they choose..I'm sure no TD fan will be able to say no.

Release dates are a bit crazy...

This post says it's October 16th...some say October 30th...and Amazon US says November 6th.
When does an MP3 web release come out?

Prerelease tracks are slowly filling in on Spotify and Apple Music.
This current incarnation of TD is as good as any in the band's history I think.
Recent releases like Quantum Gate, Light Flux and the Sessions series are making me feel like a kid again.
I really wonder how long it will be before film and tv comes back around and starts employing the group again. I'd hire em in a second.

The current lineup are akin to a session composer putting on a grey wig with a ponytail and calling himself Jerry Goldsmith. At this point they are basically only existing to make money for Edgar's widow who's pulling the strings. Call the band whatever you want but they are not Tangerine Dream.

“Tangerine Dream was my Dad and my Dad is dead, and so is Tangerine Dream.” - Jerome Froese

Yes, I find it a bit strange that they haven't been hired to do any film work yet. Quaeschning did Cargo solo though. The Switch from 1992 is still their most recent film or tv score for a dramatic picture!

Could we make sure they fit the impossible-to-find Vision Quest (1985) score into their next (1984-87) release. Remember seeing this film in the theatre and thinking the score in the final big wrestle match was impressive...and then realizing it was TD. Someone told me there was not enough cues/minutes to release it separately back then but I think many people who purchased the popular Vision Quest soundtrack would have at least liked 1-2 tracks of TD in the soundtrack release. Just didn't happen.
Take a listen & you be the judge, 1:16 starts to take off -

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4UCKbPMYVY

Seeing it in context of the film it was pretty thrilling. Not their best stuff, especially during that period but definitely worth including. Heard Vision Quest was similar to Sorcerer in that they never viewed actual film during scoring of it.
Can anybody contribute to this further?

Thanks to you, I have found what you have said to be correct. Without a doubt the essence is definitely there and I an enjoying the new material of which I haven't in a long time (even while Edgar was alive). Too much of the later years was too much commercial pop IMO.

Honestly I can't believe I'm saying it. If anyone had asked if I'd ever be listening to an Edger-less TD I would have said they were smoking crack... but here I am.
Personally I loved the 90s era Edger and Jerome Dream Mixes stuff, it's one of my faves of the group. But certainly recognize not everyone was into a dance beat version of TD.
Sad Jerome has not given his blessing to this incarnation. But as far as I know, Thorsten was Edgar's guy right?

You've sparked my interest in listening to it...
Always been iffy about todays music because I've always loved their material through the 80s and early 90s.
And since Edgar is gone...

And very slowly...I wish they would release more material we haven't heard yet.
We know what White Eagle and The Soldier main titles sound like already,

About the release date...is October 16th the European date?

As an addendum to my statement you responded to, I don't dislike the Dream Mixes as I enjoy them on drives and such. Its the post 1998 era that just doesn't do it for me. I don't have professional ears like most of you, but a lot of that later stuff sounds flat and lifeless. This is not a diss on the creators, just what I feel as a listener. Sure there are some gems in there that capture the warmth, essence and creativity of the groups early years.

Groups change and evolve as they progress and sometimes we don't like the changes.

I've been on youtube this past week catching up so to speak. I am revisiting those later recordings that I didn't buy after "Rockoon" and am discovering some great new listening That my lousy ears didn't pick up before.
The NEW Edgar-less TD doesn't feel like Edgar-less at all.... some of these tracks sound like he never left and was rejuvenated in spirit (if I may wax poetic).

Give them a shot wink

Micki

I am very excited for this set. The only thing on there I already own is Thief. Everything else will be new to me.

I havent been this excited about a CD release since Lalo Schifrin released his score for The Dead Pool back in 2009.

As for Thief, that movie introduced me to TD. I used the DVDs 5.1 audio track and made my own bootleg release. It's mostly a collection of alternate takes like the second version of Diamond Diary and Confrontation. But there are some short cues that never was released.

The Soldier is the one I've been waiting a long time to hear unbastardized. The opening slow motion action scene always stuck with me. It played a variation of Logos behind it. Some people are quick to dismiss it because it mainly featured variations of already released stuff. Glickenhaus' movies are lower budget so he probably hired TD on the cheap and they gave him what he paid for. I don't think it's a bad score, it's just a lot of cues you already heard. When I first saw the movie, I thought they just re-used the score from Thief.

I'm not sure why you think there will be a next set.
This is being released by Virgin, and only includes Virgin-released-recorded stuff.
If a next release is considered, it will be very difficult.
There are so many labels involved, Jive, MCA, Private Music etc that a next box-set is very unlikely.

Who said they think they'll be another set? We both said we "hoped".
