So there I am, having tip-toed in a few minutes late, listening in/minding my own business...then JAMES and his "Excuse me, Stephen, but if I may interrupt..." and I knew, I KNEW what it would be about. Wisenheimer!

Oh Howard...quit it. You know you loved the attention.
I've missed most of these due to other Sunday commitments. What time do the meetings usually finish? I might register anyway and decide if it's worth tuning in after I finish cutting the lawn with a teaspoon.

Graham, register anyway. Why don't you do the lawn a bit later, when the heat has gone out the sun. You could tune in for the first half hour or so, then just leave.
Great advice Graham. Done! It'll break my heart to leave after half an hour, but it's only a lawn and a teaspoon that's needing my attention. Oh, is that the time?

Graham, does your transistor radio have an earphone jack? You can listen to the conversation while you cut the lawn.

It does, but it don't have no built-in microphone, and I would have been frustrated at not being able to shout people down.
Anyway, I was there for about the first forty minutes. Stephen, were there less people at the meet than previous times? It seemed cosier - or perhaps a lot of folks joined in later? Interesting topics for the short time I was present - Hitchcock's visual film-making style (not much mention of the scores!), the (poor?) John Barry musical BRIGHTON ROCK, some comments about what the Spielberg WEST SIDE STORY might be like. It was interesting just to listen to. Pity I had to drop out so soon.
Edw this was the Panasonic one i had in 1982. Great stereo, recorded thru leads direct off stereo tapes in the ferguson stereo vhs machine, got some great film score recordings. It even played metal cassettes. Good sound. But as a walkabout it took 8 heavy batteries and they wore out quickly.
See the price On ebay 700 $. !!! I chucked mine away up the dump. It still worked.
