i hope there is no cross-fade efects or unatural cue-combinations unless they appears like they do in the film

Well, this is a Dan Goldwasser production. That's....kind of his thing.

If we're going to name Elfman's absolute all-time greatest work, however, I can confidently say that NO ONE on this board has yet to identify the correct answer:

That’s a good one, but we are talking about FILM MUSIC

That is easily one of the top five weirdest things I've ever seen.

Are the alternates of Zoom A and Zoom B different from the regular versions? I can hear in the clip online that the mission impossible theme is presented differently but I’m wondering if the rest of the compositions were substantially different?

Both versions are certainly different.

In Zoom B for instance, the alternate does not have Ethan Hunt's theme immediately before the MI theme kicks in.

The percussions is different in places in both cues too.

Holy hell, I finally got to listen to the whole CD and it is TERRIFIC! This is a truly outstanding release, the main presentation is perfect and the mastering by Matessino is great!

One of my favorite specialty label releases of all time. Can't wait to read the liner notes!

You're probably joking, but I'll plotz if that ever happens.

The "film" version of "Zoom A" is different than the album version, too, despite some of it being dialed out of the film itself. The album version is the only way to get that specific performance.

I believe the album versions of Mole Hunt, Betrayal, and Zoom all have something that isn't otherwise present on disc 2

LLL, thank yo SO MUCH for this phenomenal release. smile I'm listening right now, and it's absolutely perfect.

DePalma's M:I was (and still is) one of my favorite films growing up, and I've wanted a release like this for YEARS. You guys have brought me so much joy over the course of so many countless releases, and you've yet again given me something that I will treasure for a very long time.

Please, can someone would finally explain why Alan Silvestri's unused score isn't included?

There's some posts about it but peoples looks to avoid to respond or even talks about actually...

I think some people involved with the album have heavily alluded to the reasons...

I have no inside knowledge myself, but it seems that we're talking about two composers who are still alive and kicking. I wouldn't think that either would really want to share the album space with the other.

And of course, there's an embarrassment issue involved as well. Would Silvestri want a score that he was only able to record for a few days (and which was unceremoniously tossed) out there? He didn't have time to finish or refine it, really. And would he sit for an interview to talk about it? I wouldn't think he'd want to.

It would sound like Hollywood poison for anyone involved to go down this road. Especially since a number of the filmmakers involved (and Tom Cruise himself) are still very active in the industry and the Mission Impossible franchise is still going. I don't think any of these people would sign off on a "Hey, remember that guy we fired 23 years ago?" release. It took them six f'ing years to sign off on an expanded release of the score they DID use in the final movie!
