So glad you're picking up Hurry Sundown which is a masterpiece...I hope you already bought the other two Tinkerbell scores first, because IMO they are better. Great Fairy Rescue is good too, but not at the levels of the first two and fourth (unreleased) scores, IMO.

Yavar

Great Fairy Rescue will complete the collection. Still wish there was a complete Pirate Fairy.

Well I've done it and ordered all 3 Tinkerbell CD's. Thanks to Yavar's consistent support. Also, Bunny Lake, and Delta Force 2. I already have Hurry Sundown- that was an instant purchase when released- Magnificent score. Thank you INTRADA!! Can you extend sale to Saturday-Sunday???

Nothing for me.. Sand Pebbles a steal! Goldsmith worked great movies in the 60s this probably his best.. its really an emotional ride as the movie was very edgy so unpredictable, you hear some fierce but sweeping orchestra in this score - JG love themes too are so nice, one is a romantic overture a 1st for JG I believe. don't hesitate.

...And I am stunned to not see more people pick up the John Barry selections. I know I am partial but both of his releases in this sale are excellent and worth having...

I came close to picking up his two titles, but ultimately had to scale back my purchase. I could always use more John Barry, though, outside of his Bond scores.

You need to be careful about dropping scores by popular composers, I left The Great Robbery out of an order due to costs and I recently found out that was OOP.

I picked up the following:
Secret Of NIMH
Lost In Space (2CD - 1998) (on sale)
American Tail (Expanded)
Sand Pebbles (2CD) (on sale)
Man In Half Moon Street (on sale)
Damnation Alley (on sale)
Legend Of The Lone Ranger (on sale)

I picked up the other Barry and Rozsa titles in previous sales along with Elfman's Oz score.

I already have the La La Land 100 Rifles/Rio Conchos and the FSM Rio Conchos. Would the Intrada release be a good addition to these? I am not a complete completist, but pretty darn close.

A thousand times YES! It is the best re-recording Jerry ever did of his work, and with the London Symphony Orchestra no less! To hear “Wall of Fire” thundering over your speakers in an amazing modern recording...well, it’s just incredible. And their recording of The Artist Who Did Not Want to Paint (my favorite Goldsmith work) is absolutely sublime!

Without hesitation YES!!

Beautiful London Symphony recording & 'added bonus' isnt adequate to cover the incredible Prologue to Agony & The Ecstasy. Even if you've heard the Fox recording....you MUST hear this one, for both scores.
RIO was my first Jerry-western , grabbed it at 17, and I hated westerns at the time. This one changed my tune. It's that damn good. I was tempted to buy again just for the 'newly added' :30 End Cast on this one. But I'm getting old and out of room....

Anyway, follow our own Mutant's lead, get it, pronto!!

Sean, Yavar, those may be the most ardent recommendations that I have ever received. You have convinced me.

Thanks.

I must advise to grab Sand Pebbles if you don't already have it, Intrada knocked it out of the park imo. The Waxman is a steal as well, Julius Caesar.

About Jerry's music? No, you got me. I'm too far gone to be truly objective. But about this particular recording? I am 100% objective, honestly. I can point out the flaws of almost every other Goldsmith re-recording (including The Sand Pebbles, his previous one for Intrada), but this one with the LSO is just incredible. I can honestly say that I *prefer* listening to the original complete Rio Conchos recording, overall...because I think it flows better. But in terms of highlights, it's amazing to get the very best ones in sterling modern sound quality performed by the LSO.

Sand Pebbles is currently on its way to me, though the Waxman set and two other albums (On the Waterfront and Spellbound) were sorely tempting. I ultimately settled on Sand Pebbles because I've been meaning to dive further into Goldsmith (up until now, the scores of his in my house were Secret of NIMH [which I highly recommend] and the original soundtrack album of Mulan). I have the Intrada album of Julius Caesar, but I prefer listening to the FSM for that score as there's something about the music as conducted by Maestro Rozsa that Broughton doesn't quite come close too, even if the recording is mostly mono.

That's a great one, and one that escaped the burglary.

Track 6 on the first Cosmos disc is worth the purchase. I have to think that all 4 are worth the fantastic price right now. Actually worth the original price too.

I'm not particularly a Maurice Jarre fan, but the discount was enough to get me to listen to the sample tracks for SHOGUN. Damned if they weren't actually better than I expected, and well, I'm a sucker for tv music, and the next thing you know I was ordering it, along with the Bruce Broughton confection, ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS. (I love BB, although I got three cavities just listening to the clips...) I'm staying away from Intrada for the rest of the day, got some other business to do with LLL (speaking of tv music). Feast or famine around this place.

Despite my need to binge, I could only afford Sand Pebbels and Jaws 3D (which sharply came down in Danger Zone quantity... don't wait on that one at this price).

Okay, I caved. I got Damnation Alley, the Tinker Bell cd I was missing, and Welcome to Marwen.

Looking forward to giving them a listen.

I resisted the urge to splurge this time, still haven't opened and listened to some of the titles I bought from the last Intrada sale (Delerue's Something Wicked, The River Wild and Homeward Bound II). big grin

edwzoomom your comments about Cosmos almost got me, the Canadian exchange rate is still painful.
