Just a few days ago I flipped through an old Soundtrack Magazine from 1994 where there was an interview with him. I didn't know he was married to liner notes writer Julie Kirgo, by the way. Looks like his last Facebook post was on January 9, when he seemed in good spirits. I personally owe him a debt of gratitude for making reality the CD release of a personal grail score of a few years back, Lyn Murray's ON THE THESHOLD OF SPACE. He did so much for the film and film music community that we will forever be in his debt. He was a prime mover in revolutionizing how soundtracks are produced and his influence extends beyond the projects he himself worked on. I do not think it is too much to say that Nick Redman's contributions to movie music are among the most important and influential of our time. We will miss the man, but his work will survive him in so many ways and for generations to come. With his insightful liner notes I always felt myself in capable hands. We golden-agers have been fortunate to have had such an eloquent advocate and guide.
