I'll be always grateful to Nick as major patron to the Jerry Fielding release-renaissance (Scorpio, Killer Elite, The Getaway, etc.).

My most sincere and deepest condolences

Extremely sad news :/

I still play the Star Wars Anthology regularly, and due to that release came to view his name as the gold standard for soundtracks. He gave us so much.

RIP

A tragic loss. One of the great pioneers in his field. I was quite shocked when I read the news, and I didn't even know the man. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Sad news...I never knew the man, but upon seeing his name, it always seemed to me to be a sure sign of quality, a name I could trust. His contribution to our niche in particular will be sorely missed.

Sad news.

Just a few days ago I flipped through an old Soundtrack Magazine from 1994 where there was an interview with him.

I didn't know he was married to liner notes writer Julie Kirgo, by the way.

Looks like his last Facebook post was on January 9, when he seemed in good spirits.

According to discogs, he worked on some of my favourites like THE MAN WITH ONE RED SHOE, LESS THAN ZERO, WAVELENGTH, GRAND CANYON, BROKEN ARROW and SPEED 2.

A steadfast champion of film music preservation and a genuinely nice person. I personally owe him a debt of gratitude for making reality the CD release of a personal grail score of a few years back, Lyn Murray's ON THE THESHOLD OF SPACE. And, that's just a tiny part of his film music legacy. Thank you, Nick.

Condolences to Julie and his family. (I'd like to think that somewhere Nick is hoisting a pint with Jerry Fielding, Sam Peckinpah, and Christopher Palmer.)

So sad to hear this...

He did so much for the film and film music community that we will forever be in his debt. He was a prime mover in revolutionizing how soundtracks are produced and his influence extends beyond the projects he himself worked on. I do not think it is too much to say that Nick Redman's contributions to movie music are among the most important and influential of our time. We will miss the man, but his work will survive him in so many ways and for generations to come.

Condolences to his family.

Nick Redman's name alone whether as producer or writer was for me sufficient recommendation to buy many CD's over the years. With his insightful liner notes I always felt myself in capable hands. We golden-agers have been fortunate to have had such an eloquent advocate and guide. I shall miss his presence and contributions and send his family my condolences.

Apart from Jerry Fielding, Nick Redman helped to showcase composers like Alex North, Bernard Herrmann, Jerry Goldsmith, Lalo Schifrin, to name but a few.
