I really got into JG's Poltergeist, (the echoes from Magic and a couple of other of his scores are fun imo), plus this morning I was treated once again to Lonesome Dove, which is a real miracle of a score. I don't think I've heard Basil write better (keep in mind though, I only have a few scores of his thus far).

C'mon Thor. Asked and answered last year:

Right you are. Had completely forgotten that.

I saw this film on the Bravo channel, back when they used to run such high-brow stuff.

Has a CD been issued of this score? Soundtrack Collector has a listing for one, with a catalog number, but no other details. Amazon, Google, and Discogs searches turned up nothing. It would be unusual for a 1986 film to have a contemporary CD release. The poster for the film says "Album Available on MCA Records & Cassettes."

No CD either at the time of the film's release or later. i have an LP of this one. I guess not enough fans have demanded it or it is hell to license - or both!

I'm not sure, but THUNDERBALL may have been the first Bond score I ever purchased. Who could resist that cover? I know that I bought it at G.C. Murphy's 5&10.

Oh dear I just (finally) checked out maestro Jerry's Rio Conchos and WOW! I so love the trills, plus the fact that this doesn't necessarily sound like a typical Western. The heavy use of the orchestra is GREATLY appreciated here.

I ALMOST regretted my Intrada Alien purchase today, because I have GOT to grab what's in my Kritzerland cart. RC is just too good a score to wait on anymore (sorry for the hesitation Bruce) now I know this is essential!

Yeah, you definitely need to get the Kritzerland Rio Conchos while Bruce still has spare copies at a reasonable price!

I was really lucky in the past week to have experienced both Lonesome Dove and Rio Conchos, as they are both Elite Quality...just amazing scores!

Of course, I just hate Western scores BWA...!

(sorry)

I was so glad to see you picked up the Sonic Images Lonesome Dove, one of my favorite western scores and favorite Basil scores. Next up you should get the expanded Prometheus release of Quigley Down Under. smile

I think I received Lonesome Dove the same day as Days of Heaven...that was quite a wonderful listening day!

I'll be hunting Quigley, but I think Rio Conchos, The Fury and Alfred (probably "Razor's Edge") might have to take priority next...
