Thanks for the perspective, Peter. La-La Land very wisely decided to keep this popular and important John Williams title in their catalog, and rather than make an easy cash grab by reissuing the previous edition (which was cobbled together from a 1/4" album master and reel of "score selections"), they went for having me do a ground-up reconstruction from the newly discovered first generation elements, licensing additional material, soliciting the composer's approval, having new art designed, and then going the extra step of releasing it at a lower price. And all of that was decided before learning of the Sony Masterworks reissue, which we all found out about at the same time everyone else did. This restoration is important for the future for a variety of reasons and I trust that the audio quality will speak for itself when people hear it. Mike M. I'm sold. Looking forward to hearing the improvements. Glad to see this one back in stock, and more definitively.

I'll tell you what - if John Williams approves this expansion, even to wanting the film score to play first followed by the songs - then that's good enough for me. Ordered!

My copy also arrived yesterday, and I got through most of it last night. For anyone wondering whether the audio upgrade is significant, I can assure you that it is. The sound quality on this release is head-and-shoulders above the previous version. Let the holiday season begin!

Sound quality is excellent. So far, I've noticed a pretty sick snare drum line at 1:26 - 1:34 in "Setting The Trap". Never noticed that before in the other releases.

I saw that earlier. I love Jim Titus's design work. From Star Trek TMP, the Jurassic Park set, A.I., Braveheart and this Home Alone set, some of the best package design out there.
