La-La-Land treated two Desilu titles so far:
Star Trek in 2012
Mission: Impossible in 2015

Logically, next on the line: Mannix which is another top hit by Lalo Schifrin.
Wait and see… 2018…

I strongly doubt LLL is scheduling their TV series releases by studio and year. Just like there's no preordained schedule of Frontiere releases.

I know that there is no release pattern.
I wonder if Mannix is feasible because it's a 8 season series?

Anyway, I'm satisfied by the release of Mission: Impossible.

That is surprising.
The dvds I have watched of the early seasons have been remixed in stereo (music only)
So, I thought there would be more stereo tracks available
bruce

Don't know much about the Mission Impossible scores, but there's a difference between being remixed in stereo and actually being stereo. At times you can actually distort the sound of a song by trying to upscale from Mono to Stereo like that.

I'm sure LaLaLand just kept true to how it was originally recorded and intended.

All three shows have OUTSTANDING scoring by Jerry Fielding.
So who knows... if this is a success for LLL...

Can't wait to get this set!!! smile

The DVD's feature artificial 'fake' stereo and it shows.
The original scores are in genuine mono.

No.
They used actual Schifrin cues. These cues were ins stereo.
Perhaps these were taken from the stereo lps/cd?
brm

ps Paramount has done this with many of their titles including SERPICO, MARATHON MAN, ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST. That is remixed the soundtrack into stereo - music only

To me this the release of the year (after all new Kamen that is ;-) )!

But seriously, I've been waiting since my childhood for this, so that's a dream come true!
And what a fantastic packaging! You can see all the love that went into this set. Really great! Thank you LALALAND!!! I would’ve bought it if it would’ve cost 200$!

Also nice to see that season 1,2 and 3 seem to be more represented as they got 3 discs in total (in comparison for the other 4 remaining seasons on 3 discs). Especially S1 & 2 contain so much kick-ass music, I think the best ever written for the series and for a TV show in general! Really aggressive, ahead of its time suspense stuff plus great jazzy numbers!

I'm surprised that there were 35hrs of original music in total, as I always had the feeling that only a few episodes were actually scored. There’s just A LOT of tracked music most of the time.

My favorite cue is a very short one, which first appears in the episode "The Bank" when Landau enters a tunnel and pretends to fall to his death. Just a simple "dum-dum....dum-dum" most of the time, but it stuck with me since I first heard it's re-use in the double episode "The Council Pt. I & II". I think I was around 12 or so when I first saw it (even recorded it by holding a cassette player next to the TV) and it stuck in my head after that.
I can only hope it is part of the set ;-)

Am very excited about this! Again, props to LALA for the effort! Love the FB announcement text BTW!

Looking forward to this (& with the Canadian $ down, I will be paying at least $120.00 for it!)!

It took some getting used to, but I quite liked the 'updated' arrangement of the theme which appeared on most Season 5 episodes. I liked the low brass although the drums never seemed quite right to me.

Anyway, I hope that's on the set smile

I wonder when will LLL post the complete tracklisting of the boxset?

Perhaps the day it's up for order?

I've been re-watching the series season by season over the last several months, and it's obvious that there is a lot of tracked music. The early years seem to rely on 'The Plot' for material (though I like the variations it's put through) and there's lots of 60's jazziness.

In the later years, where the IMF are battling The Syndicate, it seems to me the music gets more varied. There are funk and rock influences creeping in too, and that's no bad thing IMO big grin

I'm a minority of one when it comes to preferring M:I's Syndicate Years* (seasons five through seven) and one of those reasons is the music. I do hope Benny Golson is well-represented in this set.

*Even the Cruise films have gone in that direction--sort of.

I went through a period a couple of years ago where I preferred the Syndicate Years, though I think on my recent re-watches I've probably moved away from them a bit.

The music cues though remain my favourites, I think.

Well now I know for a fact that you didn't read my response, in that you are in a majority of 100%. It made you miss these pearls of wisdom:
"The series is unique to me in that it got more entertaining as time went by, the first being the most boring as it was mostly spy stuff. It was much much much more fun when they messed up US criminal organisations.
The music was a lot of drum rolls a lot of the time.
"

I care little for the first three seasons. Barbara Bain was as dull as she is in "Space 1999", whereas I liked Martin Landau in that same series very much. He too is rather obstructive in my enjoyment though of the first seasons. Then there is the brick that is Brigs, we need Peter Graves and his obligatory "Hm-mm" in the introduction segment. But the main objection is the spy stuff.
The only gripe I have with the last seasons is Linda Day George, the Barbara Bain of that section of MI. They had Lee Meriwhether, Barbara Anderson and Anne Francis but stuck with the least interesting least attractive actress. Goddammit who in their right mind chooses Linda if they can get Lee?!!!

Favourite character countdown:
1) Willy (Nordberg?)
2) Barney (Rubble?)
3) (Big?) Jim
4) Barbara Anderson/ Lee Meriwhether
5) Anne Francis (would have been fun if her character had been written as Honey West hired by the IMF)
6) X
7) X
8) X
9) Paris (Hilton?)
10) Rollin Hand.

There's one bit by Robert Drasnin at the beginning of act 2 of "Run For The Money" (when Val de Vargas catches Barney Collier in the act and they have a brief rematch*) that's always made me laugh with its "Here comes trouble" tone.

*Val de Vargas played evil Pernell Roberts' brother in "Death Squad" - he has a fight with Barney and it doesn't end well for him.
